Not really, no. Just gotta check on him every day, feed him, adjust his tank temp and aeration. Takes about five minutes a day, maybe.

Make sure when you speak, articulate and don't speak too fast. You will feel kinda stupid at first because you feel like you are talking to yourself. Later, when you create a bond with your seaman, it will be a lot of fun, like own a dog, but with out all the pooping.

To be clear, you CANNOT play the game without a Dreamcast microphone. Buy a complete game with the disc and microphone, the disc alone will do you absolutely no good.

I got my complete copy for $18.00 plus shipping.

Well, without MOST of the pooping.

Fun things to try with your Seaman:

1. Try to stump him with your responses. When he asks your gender, try saying "both" or "neither" When he asks about your favorite film, try to remember when he was in development, and frame your answer that way. If you answer something like No Country For Old Men" he's not going to have anything to say. But he did have responses for "Animal Crackers" "Nosferatu", "Metropolis" and "Animal House" Just to name a few. (I don't reccomend this one your first time through, for reasons that I won't spoil, but which will eventually become obvious.)

2. In order to more fully understand my first staement, try repeatedly saying the four letter acronym for "Ship High In Transit"

3. Move the cursor around his head a bunch of times. He does a barrel roll!

4. When the game is "over" and the credits roll, don't stop coming back to visit, while Seaman has only one deep conversation with you per day, he has more conversations he can have with you than days it takes to "finish the game"

5. After you've been through the game once or twice, if you're a writer, you can use seaman to give you interesting insights into your characters by deciding how they would respond to his queries.

6. Just screw around. say random single words to Seaman, and he's got responses for a lot of them. Although complete lists do exist, I don't rccomend them. Seaman is a software toy built around exploring the intricacies.


So yeah. Have fun. you just got the best piece of software I've every played with. Remember to talk kind of like a robot. Make sure your syllables come out clear and sharp. Oh, and don't play the game around jerkwad roomates.
