Video Game "Look what I found"
Re: Video Game "Finds of the Day"
FiftyDollarCurse, what store are you getting all these great finds at? I've never been to any thrift store with so much quality retro game material at such low prices. It's craziness.

look, this is probably gonna get me in trouble -- but when I was a little kid I'm pretty sure I remember just plugging in my NES AC adapter into my TG16...FiftyDollarCurse wrote: TurboGrafx-16 with Turbo Booster I've never heard of the Turbo Booster before, and racketboy's TG16 101 article was first place on Google. Very nice find, hope I can find an ac adapter and make it work again. $4.00

If remember Hobie's advice correctly, I don't think you're supposed to use an NES adapter with anything other than an NES, due to extra .5 amps of power or something..noiseredux wrote:look, this is probably gonna get me in trouble -- but when I was a little kid I'm pretty sure I remember just plugging in my NES AC adapter into my TG16...FiftyDollarCurse wrote: TurboGrafx-16 with Turbo Booster I've never heard of the Turbo Booster before, and racketboy's TG16 101 article was first place on Google. NES Model 1 US
9v AC, 1.3A
Note this is AC. The NES steps the power to 5v DC internally and pretty much any 5-9v DC with a plug that fits will work as long as it provides enough amperage. This is why you should never use an official NES power brick with anything else as it will fry, but a Genesis brick will work fine on a NES.

Deseret Industries. A gigantic Mormon-run Goodwill-type store. They are huge and run like department stores. There aren't any Goodwill or other charity shops around here so they get a ton of donations from everyone in the community but especially wealthy church members. They have a constant army of people pricing things and putting them on the shelves all day long. I'm stopping in pretty much every day now, sometimes twice. I believe they only exist in Utah and Nevada and maybe Wyoming.
EDIT: Utah, Nevada, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, California and Arizona. Locations here: http://www.providentliving.org/location ... -1,00.html

Because AC will generally blow up a device that's expecting DC.Rurouni_Fencer wrote: If remember Hobie's advice correctly, I don't think you're supposed to use an NES adapter with anything other than an NES, due to extra .5 amps of power or something..

I bought what I thought was a used copy of Lunar 2 Eternal Blue Complete (with all the extras) and it arrived today in the mail. Turns out it was brand new! Only some minor wear to the corners of the outer cardboard box. $50

I briefly considered reselling it before the urge to open it overpowered me.
Can't wait to play it!
