Uncharted Drakes Fortune
Uncharted Drakes Fortune
I've started playing this game and am at chapter 3, bored to death. Is this game going to get any better as I progress further? Not sure if I should just sell it since right now, its not that fun compared to all the hype I've read about the uncharted series. Hope you can help. Thanks.

All I know is that my gut says maybe.
Re: Uncharted Drakes Fortune
The hype is mostly regarding the second game.
The first Uncharted was met with pretty positive reception because it came out at a time when the PS3's software lineup was garbage, and the game had very impressive visuals and was overall pretty fun.
If you're being bored to death by the gameplay itself, then no, it's not going to get any better. The story picks up a bit though.

I thought it was pretty fun overall, but the second one is certainly better.
Reminding myself via Gamefaqs...chapter 3 is the first one with any real amount of combat, which is something that most of the game is pretty full of. If you're feeling bored because most all you've been doing is climbing around on ruins n' such, then keep on going, because that's not all the game is (really, that's not what most of the game is).
'course, if you just don't really like the genre that it falls into as a whole, then that's another story.

What makes the 2nd game even more fun than the 1st? Would it be better to just play the 2nd even though as of right now, the game is pretty boring. Hopefully after chapter 3, things pick up a bit because jumping ledges, and solving dumb puzzles is not really my type of game.

Well, again, quite a lot of the game is actually a third person shooter. It's just punctuated by the occasional puzzle/platforming. There happens to be a fair bit of it dropped in between the opening shootout and introducing the villain. I'd say give it another chapter or two and see if you like it better, as there's a fair bit of shooting coming up.
The second game is a little better paced I think. Better written. It allows for stealth (though it's almost never required). There's also a bit more variety in terms of set pieces, plus some very impressive scripted sequences.
That said, if you really don't like the first one, the second one isn't fundamentally different. It's the same formula, just improved.

Re: Uncharted Drakes Fortune
It's a very well made game, but that doesn't really make it "good". It's pretty generic in my opinion. Honestly I thought the first was better than the second. The second was probably a better game overall, but after playing the first its like...whats the point? They're basically the same thing.
If it matters, I never touch the multiplayer features in games so I'm only talking about the single player part.

Re: Uncharted Drakes Fortune
Personally, I find the series very overrated. I actually found Uncharted 2 rather bland despite all the hype. I'd say just play something else
