I recently uninstalled Aquanox. I don't know if I'll ever come back to it. It is a game that is just ruined by bad voice acting. It's possibly the worst voice acting I have heard in any form of media ever. Part of what is so horrible about it is that it is clear that the game actually has a pretty intelligent script for dialogue, but the actors just don't get it. The style of the writing is similar to an old film noir detective movie, but set in a high tech, futuristic underwater setting. The actors mispronounce like half of the words, especially when they are scientific or technological terms, which just makes the characters sound very stupid, even though they were written to be intelligent. The gameplay of the game is failry mundane, but I would plow through it for the well written story if it weren't for these terrible voice actors making a mockery of it.

fantasia - sega
final fantasy VII - ps1

today is a sad, sad day. my disc 2 is fucked; there is a deep scratch on the label side. i have no idea how old or when the scratch occurred, but i just noticed it when i decided to play it last week . the idea of problems occurring because of it were in the back of my mind from the get go, but i wasn't going to let that stop me from playing it. so, i am stuck about 20 hours into it.

for those of you who have played it, my current save is near corel on the rail road tracks; i am getting the first huge materia from the nearby macko reactor. when i try to leave corel there is a never ending blank screen. the music still plays, but the screen is forever black.

i probably won't go out and search for a disc two or another copy this year, which is why i am chalking it up as not beaten. but, at some point i will probably want to beat the game again and will have to make another purchase. thankfully, this isn't an 80 dollar game.

Sadly, Metroid Prime 3.
It just stopped working on my Wii, along with SSBB and Mario Party 8, It won't play anymore. I only got to the first boss, and poof, no more play. It sucked, I was loving that game.

Final Fantasy l(lll?), because it bored the hell of me after a while. I don't play anything that requires any grinding, I find it a terrible feature. I've beaten several RPG's in my time, but none with any real grinding included. Chrono Trigger and Earthbound actually ended incomplete also, mostly because emulating makes me uncomfortable and I've lost my save files on several occasions...

Mario & Luigi 3: Bowser's Inside Story, because I lost the game, another great one, I was really far into it. Finally, Megaman Starforce 2, which I took a break from and then had no idea how to get to the ending when coming back, just he ending, it's a fun game in general. It just got somewhat bland near that point too, although I spent more hours than some on an average play through would, due to doing extra junk.

Oh, and a Speedy Gonzales game, due to a slightly high difficulty and an in general mediocre experience compared to other platformers. Not a great game.

Those are the games not beaten.

There are a LOT of half finished games from last year I'm revisiting, the games on hiatus would be:
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Donkey Kong Country
MySims
Okami(Wii)
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Sonic Colors
Super Mario Galazy
Current Consoles: SNES, GBC, Game Cube, Nintendo DSL, Wii, N64, PS2
Past Consoles: PS1, X-BOX, GBA

FAV Franchises/Games: Sonic The Hedgehog, Lock's Quest, Legend of Zelda, Megaman Battle Network, Mysims, Plok(SNES), Kirby, Ristar, Sly Cooper, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, Smash Bros, Okami, Tekken, Super Mario, Wario Land, Golden Sun, Streets of Rage and Elite Beat Agents.

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep (psp)
Man I am tried of this game. Playing through the same levels 3 different times just doesn't begin to explain it. I love kingdom hearts, but this one just annoys me. I beat Ven and Terra's stories and I'm on Aqua's but she's a magic user. I rely on strength and attack during combat. Just got to Disney town and it takes more than 20 hits to kill one enemy. Magic doesn't do much either. I'm also tried of all these KH spinoff games. I want kingdom hearts 3. Yeah Birth by Sleep is important for the story but I don't have the willpower to sit through the same uninteresting story 3 times. I hope 358/2 days and chain of memories are better. I like Birth by Sleep but I'll never beat it.

I have a few half-finished games I plan (and hope) on beating this year:
Legend of Zelda (Nes, got to fifth dungeon then save got erased, tested new save and the cart still works)
Ocarina of Time (N64, Stopped once I got to adult Link)
Okami (Ps2, no idea why I stopped)
Resistance (Ps3, same as Okami above)
Super Mario sunshine (Gc, got stuck at a dumb platforming part. The controls aren't my favorite)
Time splitters future perfect (Xbox, same as Okami above)

Edit: Final Fantasy IX (Already mentioned a few pages back, still haven't gotten around to it)

Pulseman Virtual Console
Lords of Thunder Virtual Console
Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble Game Boy Color
Sonic Adventure Dreamcast
Panzer Dragoon Saturn
Discworld Saturn
Wave Race Blue Storm Gamecube
Cool Cool Jam Neo Geo Pocket Colour *NEW*
Ganbare Neo Poke Kun Neo Geo Pocket Colour *NEW*
Animal Crossing: Let's Go To The City *NEW*
Nemesis Game Boy *NEW*
Parodius Game Boy Color *NEW*
Final Fantasy III DS *NEW*
Wonder Boy in Monster World Virtual Console *NEW*

Games off the list: None
Games on the list: Wonder Boy in Monster World, Final Fantasy III, Animal Crossing: Let's Go To The City, Nemesis, Parodius, Ganbare Neo Poke Kun, Cool Cool Jam. A bad month for beating games this one!

Cool Cool Jam I don't think much of, I'll get back to it eventually. Ganbare Neo Poke Kun is quirky, but its a bit repetitive trying to to unlock the mini games, which after the first half hour or so, are the only reason to play it. The random luck involved is very frustrating. Animal Crossing, FFIII and Wonder Boy 4 I just started, so hopefully I'll beat them by the end of the month. Nemesis and Parodius I did a practice run of, ready for this month's together retro. Hopefully I'll beat both.

Overall a bad month for beating stuff, but mainly because of trying lots of new games and not playing all the way through, and starting a bunch of new stuff at the end of the month. Hopefully the list will be trimmed next month, although with snickerdoodles challenge, I doubt it XD

Darksiders - First of all, the game doesn't have a single, original bone in its body. It's a lot like Castlevania: Lords of Shadow in that you can look at it as a tribute to lots of other classics games, or a soulless, lazy way to mooch off of their success. It's basically Zelda+God of War+Metroid. Oh, and there's a shitty flying level that is either ripping off Panzer Dragoon or that flying level in God of War 2, hard to tell. Unfortunately, the dungeons aren't as good as Zelda, the combat is a step down from God of War, that flying level feels like a poorly thought out, half-assed mini-game and goes on for far too long and the Metroid stuff is just well, what you'd expect. Nothing new. Get a new ability, access a new area. It'd be cool if the rest of the game weren't so lame

The controls are mediocre, just trying to use that stupid throwing star thing you get in the first dungeon is a pain. You have to go into zoom mode, then hold down the lock on button, then move the right cursor over your targets, then charge it up. By now, something has probably already hit you as you're fumbling around with the shit controls. The fights are cheap. Big, hulking beasts with tons of health who are not stunned by your attacks and of course have a bunch of lackeys to distract you while they take their cheap shots at you. Plus, the game loves to fall back on the old trick of wearing you down with wave after wave of increasingly tougher enemy mobs and health is hard to come by in this game. The camera is bad. It never really pays attention to what's going on and you have to manually adjust it constantly.

The only good thing about the game is the genuinely interesting story, the setting, the atmosphere, voice acting and upgrade system, but that's all superficial. The gameplay is what makes or breaks a game for me and none of those superficial elements are enough to make me care enough to keep playing this generic, mediocre game that has no soul or identity of its own.

Infamous - Speaking of generic and mediocre, we have Sucker Punch's Infamous. Let's see, we'll take third person shooting 101 and sandbox games 101 and slap them together going through the same motions as the fifty billion other shooters and sandbox games out there. Then we throw in a gimmicky excuse for a karma system that has little effect on the game other than slightly changing the story and making you wish you were playing a Bioware game where this sort of thing ACTUALLY MATTERS. Then throw in some unlikable characters, repetitive missions(like all sandbox games) and a shitty platforming system that requires ZERO skill since Cole just automatically gets drawn to anything he can interact with like metal to a magnet. Did I mention how annoying it is when you are trying to drop to the ground but can't because Cole keeps trying to grab the ledge or building you're trying to get off of? Nothing I love more than being reminded that I have no control over my character. It's like Prince of Persia 2008, why let players do the work when you can just play the game for them?

God, I've played so many disappointing games this year. Thank god for Portal 2, the rare jewel amongst all the mediocrity out there

Dark Angel: Vampire Apocalypse

Played for about 10 minutes. Won't play again. Possibly the worst game on the PS2.

I've been trying a lot of new (to me) games lately, some most likely bad games before I get rid of them, some that are supposed to be good before I buy them. Here's the short list of games I don't plan on beating before 2011:

Paper Mario (N64): I couldn't stand it at all. Is this supposed to get better?
Super Mario RPG (SNES): I made a deal with this game that I'll give it a fair shot, but I'm not a fan of really simplistic RPGs, so unless it just becomes awesome soon, I'll probably give up on it entirely.
We're Back (SNES): It's stupid and unplayable.
Power Rangers (SNES): A really simple beat em up that was too easy for me to bother finishing. Just got boring. It's not that bad, but that might be because I was expecting it to be downright awful.
Spyro the Dragon (PS1): I hadn't played this game since it first game out, so I wanted to try it out again. Just boring and unengaging. With so many better games on my to do list, this one sits very low.
Ocarina of Time (N64): Like SMRPG, I promised to give this another shot before making up my mind. I still might beat it, but with some other RPGs out there that I'm playing (FFIX, BoFIII), I'm not sure I'll have time to beat it before 2012.

I thought the karma system was just fine. If you're a jerk, it doesn't just make minor changes to the story, people on the street will insult you, run away from you in fear, and even throw stuff at you. Plus the game takes on an overcast, dirty look. If you're nice, the sky is much more clear, and people cheer you and say nice stuff about you. I thought it had a nice effect.

All's I can say is, you sir have horrible taste. 4 of the games you listed are among my favorites.
