Yeah, but they threw away the manuals and cases of games I had been looking for for a while, like Ghost in the Shell, Headhunter, and Way of the Samurai 2.brunoafh wrote:^ Been that way for awhile now.

I feel your pain, believe me, I was just saying this horseshit policy isn't new or anything. It sucks.lisalover1 wrote:Yeah, but they threw away the manuals and cases of games I had been looking for for a while, like Ghost in the Shell, Headhunter, and Way of the Samurai 2.brunoafh wrote:^ Been that way for awhile now.

I'm horrified every time I find that. Some stores are better than others, but that image still haunts my dreamslisalover1 wrote:Went to my local Gamestop today, and was horrified to find this....

So the new policy is for ALL PS2 games now?! That's abysmal. I had my eye on a few titles too.
Better snatch up my last few GC must-haves before they too become extinct.
I just miss FuncoLand.

Hey this post has nothing to do with bashing gamestop, but I was just curious if anybody knows if the Employees are allowed to give away the advertising posters of upcoming games in the store to customers? I was just wondering cause they have this awesome poster of the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3DS poster with Young Link on it and I want it so bad since OoT is my favorite game of all time. I went to a couple of gamestops and they said they are not allowed to give them to customers? I swear they used to though? Maybe it just varies by location.

I got a MVC3 one about a month ago. And the guy said if I ever saw others I wanted, just let him know?Metal Militia wrote:Hey this post has nothing to do with bashing gamestop, but I was just curious if anybody knows if the Employees are allowed to give away the advertising posters of upcoming games in the store to customers? I got a DQ IX poster so... yeah. They told me that they just throw all the display stuff away anyway.Metal Militia wrote:Hey this post has nothing to do with bashing gamestop, but I was just curious if anybody knows if the Employees are allowed to give away the advertising posters of upcoming games in the store to customers? edit: the people working at your stores might be taking them for themselves and selling them for some spare coin.

Seeing this picture makes me so upset. I hate how this sort of bullshit is allowed. Gamestop's customers don't give a fuck about video games. Well, I guess it makes sense to patronize a store that also doesn't give a fuck about video games. As for me, I love video games far too much to step foot inside a Gamestop.lisalover1 wrote:Went to my local Gamestop today, and was horrified to find this:
The clerk said that around 90% of the games had their cases and/or manuals thrown out.

Got a PM today:

1. Address your complaint in a calm rational manner with genuine concern and reason why.
2. Be sure to check the District Manager Contact Me box. The complaint then really gets looked at.
3. Use the Gamestop link above for praise as well as complaints to build up a good rapport with your local District Manager.
I have great employees and District Managers in my region, they actually listen and try to help! My District Manager even gave me more insight after my last submitted praise of one of his employees. I now know which Gamestops here locally will stop carrying PS2 games. More importantly I also know which Gamestop (My Home Store) will continue to carry PS2 Games and no longer toss out the PS2 cases and manuals.
I feel everyone's pain. The best way to get results is do the constructive feedback to Gamestop Corporate, be sure to BYPASS the Survey:lisalover1 wrote:Hey, CRT. I kind of need your help, or at least your input on a matter that has come up just today. I was coming home from school, and decided to stop in at Gamestop to check for any new PS2 games. In particular, I was interested in buying a CIB copy of Way of the Samurai 2 that I saw in stellar condition the last time I was there. When I entered, I saw that they had re-arranged their store setup. Nothing special, so I didn't think much of it. I didn't see anything new in the PS2 display. In fact, a lot of the games that I noticed before were gone. i just assumed that someone bought them. In fact, the PS2 section as a whole seemed to have slimmed down an awful lot. On the opposite side of the PS2 cart, I saw that they had brought out the old PS2 movable shelves, but it seemed rather empty; they only used the top row to hold all their PS2 disc-only games. It seemed kind of strange to me that they would get rid of their old box for paper sleeve PS2 games just to put them into a display. Then I went around to the other side of the display. That's when I saw it. Well over a hundred PS2 games, all in paper sleeves. I was mortified. Panicked, I asked the clerks at the counter if those games used to have their case and manual, hoping that they were all originally traded in as disc-only games. He said that about 90% of them had their original cases and/or manuals thrown out upon moving them over. I was just speechless. You should have seen the look of complete indifference on his face when he said it, too; he didn't feel the least bit bad for all the games that were lost when he did this. So, I went on to assess the damage. There were a ton of great games that I had been looking for on that shelf: Shin Megami Tensei Devil Summoner, Headhunter Redemption, Fantavision, Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex, and, as I was looking near the back of the shelf, I saw what I wished I didn't see: A disc-only copy of Way of the Samurai 2. I was furious, and stormed out of the store. In case you were curious, here is a picture of the carnage:
I know that you have suffered similar losses recently, so I knew that you would be just the right person to help me with this. What should I do? Should I call the district manager? I have written an email or two to Gamestop in the past asking them to please stop gutting perfectly good PS2 games. But, this time was the time when it hit really close to home. I want to stop these tragedies from happening. I want to safeguard gaming history for all the future generations of gamers and collectors. I want to help. Please tell me what I can do.
