Actually, and this will be my last FF related comment. They balanced the party well. You needed Yuna's summons for some arena fights. Tidus has a powerful overdrive second only to Wakka and his quick hit was a necessity for the whole team to learn. Rikku could tear shit up if you knew how to use her mix ability properly, which I never did. Auron's transfer ability was a must as you said. Lulu I think was good for magic resistant types and Kimahri.... well yeah he was uselessthe7k wrote:I think that's the main reason I didn't enjoy FFX - the game was so blatantly unbalanced.Gamerforlife wrote: Course, I also love the fact that he is the most powerful offensive character in the game. Perfect for the monster arena
Wakka has an overdrive? Do it. Someone else has an overdrive? Transfer it to Wakka so he can do his overdrive. Repeat over and over. Strategury!

It's a shame you missed Marvel Super Heroes: War of the Gems and X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse. You should go back and check both of those out if you haven't.the7k wrote:Gamerforlife wrote:Oh yeah, and LJN sucked. It's thanks to those assholes (well, more specifically Acclaim, who owned them) that The Simpsons and X-Men Arcade games never came to consoles. Instead, we got utter gems like Arcade's Revenge and Return of the Sinister Six. Put me off of comic-related console games for half a decade (of course, Blizzard shares some of the blame thanks to Justice League Task Force).

I never played Mutant apocalypse, but War of the Gems was fantastic.Ack wrote:It's a shame you missed Marvel Super Heroes: War of the Gems and X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse. I liked Mutant Apocalypse. I think it's underrated as people always talk about the X-Men games on the Genesis. MA had a good soundtrack, colorful visuals and some cool street fighter style attacks. I like that it was non-linear, like a Mega Man game and that you could choose which character you wanted to use for a couple of the game's missions. I love how the game's first couple of missions put a spotlight on each X-Men. It's like, "hey, let's show you how badass Wolverine is. Now we'll show you how badass Psylocke is" etc, etc, etc.CFFJR wrote:

I feel bad for Quantum Theory (360/PS3). It looked like it was going to be a decent Gears of War clone and I was excited upon its release. But then the critics panned the shit out of it and I felt kinda bad for the developers cause it looked cool. I haven't played it yet but I'd like to try it.

Seems like many of the things here are RPG related, I actually felt really bad (bad enough to abruptly stop playing) with Need For Speed Most Wanted. The chases were getting way too intense and taking a very long time to escape the cops. It was just getting too real and made me feel uncomfortable. Never got that feeling from a video game before. I think because it was open world and chases usually had no finish lines it felt a bit more like real life than the standard need for speed game.

I've only played Return of the Sinister Six on GameGear, and yeah it was pretty sloppy. But LJN are also responsible for Maximum Carnage, which easily falls in my top 5 beat-em-ups of all-time.the7k wrote:Gamerforlife wrote: Oh yeah, and LJN sucked. Though, in truth, LJN wasn't a developer, they were just a publisher that didn't disclose who developed their games - which is even worse, in my book.
Neat tidbit about them being a publishing company with a developmental front. I never knew that.
