I think it was chickHEN 5 or something, can't quite remember. Am I still able to log onto the playstation store with it and download 2 of these games theyre offering? As well can I play them online?

Thanks!
No, there is currently no way to do this on CFW. Your PSP will have to be on OFW (after updating to the latest version) to take advantage of the offer.
I think for someone with CFW he could just get a pirated copy, possibly not feeling too bad about it as Sony were giving them for free anyway, and play them offline (or are they all online only like Steam)?

Ivo.
Steam has an offline mode. It just requires you to log in once on that particular system to verify. As long as you don't log out or change systems it will still work fine even offline. You can shut down the PC or quit steam and it will still keep you logged in. Run steam when not connected to the internet and it will ask you to retry or 'Go offline'. You will still have access to all your games.

To answer your question. You MUST have the latest OFW to access the PSN store. I'm not aware of any workarounds yet. This is the only way to get them legitimately, no internet connection is required after you have downloaded them. Regarding piracy, as long as the games are compatible with your CFW then you can pirate the games and they will work just fine.

Not on the PSP. I run CFW and can access the PSN store no problem (and have even purchased/downloaded things that ran just fine).

So people on the PSP and CFW can actually download the freebies "legally"? How quaint.

Well, we don't know yet. NOBODY can get on the PSN store at this present time OFW or not. So who knows what's going to happen when it goes back up. It might be delayed sometime because some fuckwad at Sony has completely fucked the password reset script up on Playstation.com. It has a massive security flaw where a malicious user could change your password for you if they only know your email address and your date of birth. Things that can easily be gathered from practically anywhere, facebook, forums, other websites etc. In fact I could hack every single persons PSN account on here if they have their DoB registered and used the same email. (I won't though, what use would I have for a compromised PSN account?).

I know at one point the security for the PSN from the PSP was trivially easy to crack. I think it was something like the PSN would say "What version are you?" and the CFW would lie. They might have improved that since then.

This is no longer true -- with the last update before PSN went down, CFW users were blocked from the store with no new workaround.

Edit: Also, what CFW are you using? It's been a very long time since legitimate downloads from the store worked on a non-OFW unit.

actually with the new 6.35 and 6.20 pro B4, your able to get onto the psn. http://wololo.net/wagic/2011/04/10/pro- ... mpo-entry/ check list of updates, not hard to find. but as irixith has stated, with the new update, it might be imposible for now...that is untill a new hack is turned out. btw the pro B4 is awesome.

know that only 6.20 is CFW, while 6.35 is more of a softmod. still they both allow for access of psn...or did at least, not sure anymore.
