Duke Nukem Forever-censored on 360?

Post by Pabstblueribbon »

I'm trying to decide if i want to get DNF on my Xbox 360 or my PC. I would like to get it on my Xbox, because I don't want to have to stop playing when my girlfriend wants to check her facebook (about every 10 minutes), but I was thinking that it may be censored due to the graphic nature of having cigarettes/dildos/boobies and all that fun stuff in the game. I get the impression that consoles are more into censoring than PC titles, because of all the kids playing...I've done some googling and can't find anything definitive, I was wondering if anyone else recalls any articles addressing this, or am I just being paranoid? I really want to experience the full version of this game without any censoring involved.

You are just being paranoid. The same game is being released on all platforms, sans censoring.

Unless of course, you live in Germany, but if you lived there, you'd know that already and have an import source all lined up.

There's not going to be any censorship, don't worry. In fact, given the themes of the game it's probably the latest title I would see self-censored. Censored by the media maybe but that's it.

Why wouldn't it surprise you if it was censored? How did you even get this suspicion?

Isn't this the type of thing they put up parental control for? As in, if it's on, kids wouldn't be able to play it, otherwise they could put in all the adult content they want to.

Not to mention the whole ESRB thing.

I remember parents mode in the original DN3D. It made the strippers invisible, but they were still there. So you would walk up to so empty space you couldn't walk through and you'd hear Duke go "Shake it baby" as he gave some cash that disappears.

That sounds so dumb to have. To me a "parents mode", would be to just not buy the game for your child.

I'm more interested about people who still have their pre-order receipts from over a decade ago. Think those will be honored?
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
