I don't know if this have been discussed here before but, I am actually wish this topic can be use as a guideline for people who are interest in animated game.
I think most of you know by now most Japanese animated show video games are either average or downright terrible. Whether it's the show itself or the game companies just want to cash in the popularity can be debated for hour. What I was wondering, if people here know any hidden gems to look for under this section. They is so many games make for Japanese animated show, that they should be few that must be very good.
Also, what is your opinion about this game sections. Do you ever play games from the show or do you avoid it at all cost because you know they never make a good game from an anime show. Just want to hear your opinion about this.

There's a K-ON rhythm game that's pretty good. You either like the rhythm game genre or you don't, but if you do it's a solid title. The unlockable hardest difficulty really gives you a challenge. And you can go all Sawa-chan with the dress up options.

Most of the Yu Yu Hakusho games are actually quite good. Try these ones:
Yu Yu Hakusho 1-4 (SFC)
Yu Yu Hakusho : Makyou Toitusen (MegaDrive)
Yu Yu Hakusho Forever (PS2)
Yu Yu Hakusho Ankoku Bujutsu Kai 120% (PS2)
Mech Anime Games
Super Robot Taisen series (SRPGs)
Another Century's Episode series (PS2 action games)
Great Battle series (SFC beat em ups)
Randoms
Berserk: Millennium Falcon (fucking sweet PS2 hack n slash)
Hokuto Musou / Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage (PS3, Dynasty Warriors-esque game)
Gantz The Game (decent PS2 action game)
Spriggan Lunar Verse (interesting PSX Metal Gear Solid clone)
There are a number of good DBZ games too, but I feel they're all pretty well known.

U.N. Squadron for the SNES is based on the anime/manga Area 88. It's one of my all time favorite shmups.
Golgo 13: Top Secret Episode for the NES is one of my old favorite NES games and it is also based on anime/manga. Golgo 13: The Mafat Conspiracy was also pretty good, but not as great as Top Secret Episode.
Little Nemo: The Dream Master is another good NES era game based on anime.
Gungrave and Gungrave:Overdose for the PS2 were both really fun action shooters.
Sakura Wars: So Long My Love is a good PS2 anime-based game... though I think the Sakura Wars games started before the animes.
Shogo: Mobile Armor Division for the PC is a good FPS.

I think the "Zone of the Enders" games are considered anime games. The 2nd Runner is definitely one of my favorite games on PS2, so I'd recommend that over the 1st one.
I was gonna make a thread about worthwhile anime games, but this'll do.

I loathe the Naruto series, but I love the Narutimate Hero/Ultimate Ninja games. They're almost like Smash Bros, except much more focused.
Bleach also has some great fighting games. I loved the first one on the DS.
Also on the DS - Jump Ultimate Stars (and the prequel, Jump Super Stars). These games got 95% of my total play-time on the DS, easily. The fact that the 3DS has region-locking and there is the slim-to-no-chance possibility that a sequel may come to it has me holding off on a 3DS altogether until a work-around is found.
Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon in the arcades was one of my favorite beat 'em ups. There's many other great Sailor Moon games, but this one is tops for me.
AquaPazza is a one-on-one fighter coming to arcades made by Examu (Arcana Hearts) that features characters from various anime, including ToHeart and Utawarerumono. I'm really looking forward to it.
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. One of my favorite Capcom fighters of all time.
Sengoku Basara X. While the game series has been around for a while, this game was made to promote the anime series, so I think it counts.
Most of the other good stuff I know of has already been mentioned. Honestly, anime fairs far better in the jump to video games than Western animation or movies ever could hope. Only western comics might be on par with anime.

Yup, pretty funny how that worked out ... so well, because the anime is damn good stuff. Not everyday you see that.Hobie-wan wrote:In that case, the game was first, then they made the anime.J T wrote:Gungrave and Gungrave:Overdose for the PS2 were both really fun action shooters.
