Muramasa is definitely worth your time. It's a fantastic game through and through with tons of replay value. Can't go wrong.
I actually suggested it to the OP in my first post here. I only played Odin Sphere because of how much I enjoyed Muramasa. Muramasa was just better on every front (to me at least), it made Odin Sphere feel so boring and slow.
Side Scrolling RPGs?
Re: Side Scrolling RPGs?
From what you and brunoafh are saying it sounds pretty awesome. Odin Sphere's cooking system was definitely one of the deal breakers for me, so good to hear it has an easier system.MrPopo wrote:Muramasa's combat is really fun. It's smooth but isn't just button mashing; that quickly gets you killed. There's a lot of tradeoffs regarding your weapon selection. There's two kinds of swords (fast and slow) and every sword has a special ability. Some special abilities are worth using a lower power sword. There are ingredients to collect or buy (for pretty cheap) that are used to make food, which restores health and some have buffs. Imagine a completely streamlined version of Odin Sphere's cooking system. There are no repeat bosses, but there are repeat stages (aesthetically). One character goes from west to east, the other east to west. The stage layouts themselves are different between each character. There are also challenge levels available after each boss. These consist of waves of enemies, usually with a theme, and if you survive them you get some nice gear.
I must be going crazy though, but I swear I thought it was on something else besides the Wii? Well, I'm a little excited for the Wii's new $150 tag and heck maybe it'll even go down more by the time I get one, guess Muramasa will be around the top of my list of games to check out.

No, it's only on Wii. I also think it's the best game on the entire platform.Xeogred wrote:I must be going crazy though, but I swear I thought it was on something else besides the Wii? The only complaint I have about the entire game is that it's a bit too easy. There are 3 difficulty levels, the "hard" difficulty just isn't that hard, and the one above that places you at 1 HP for the entire game, so... that's a little too hard.
The pretty large amount of bonus content after you clear the game is pretty hard and well worth playing though, so that kind of makes up for it.

Well this pretty much cements it that Wii 2 is being announced at E3.Xeogred wrote: Well, I'm a little excited for the Wii's new $150 tag and heck maybe it'll even go down more by the time I get one, guess Muramasa will be around the top of my list of games to check out.
