Of course. There's no way in hell Sony would actually spend money on their customers. Note that all these games are published by Sony...
In addition to the money they've lost in the past few weeks, Sony is now devaluing all the listed games to 0$, as now potentially all PS3 and PSP users can own those games. I'd say that's a pretty big financial hit. However, I don't think you'll be able to see it that way through all that snark.

..of course Sony is going to give away Sony published games.

really. If they were giving away some other publishers games for $0, THEN I'd kind of think that was asshole-ish.

It's entirely their own fault. They left the barn doors open. I don't, and neither should anyone else for that matter, have any sympathy for Sony. They lost your details through negligence, incompetence and worst of all, arrogance.

The thing is, the games offered are some of the highest sellers on the system. There's very few people who don't own those games. It's the illusion of value. Sony clearly just wanted it to seem like they were doing you a favour when in actual fact it is nothing more than a Trojan horse. All they want is for as many CFW users as possible to update to official firmware so they can lock out the pirates.

Unluckily for Sony, somebody has figured out how to QA flag PS3s which allows for downgrading. It's just a matter of time before somebody figures out how to dual boot GameOS... Then it's game over for Sony.

You actually expect any company to spend real money on their customers - especially when they've already lost a shit ton of it?

Remember when XBLA went down during the holidays? What game was it that they gave out? Undertow? Does that really compare in any way, shape or form, to WipeOut HD or LittleBigPlanet?

Everybody has been screwed by this shit - why would they screw over the third-party developers even more (who I'm sure are not too pleased about losing a whole months worth of revenue) by bringing the value of their games to zero? It's the same shit when everyone is all like "Oh, just add $20 to my PSN account" - as if they can just give the money away and not suffer any repercussions when the Activision wants to know when they'll be getting paid for all the COD map packs.

And yeah - I can't wait for it to be 'game over for Sony'. Oh boy, I get to choose between paying $60 for multiplayer + misc services that are free on other platforms (and certainly, they wouldn't up the price as much as they can once they have no competition!), or a company that puts out about 2-3 games for diehards a year and doesn't feel the need to appeal to third-parties at all. Only positive that may come of it is that maybe publishers will start looking at the PC as a legit platform again. (Seriously, if it weren't for the PS3, I think I'd have abandoned gaming this generation and taken up sports instead.)

Anyway - Dead Nation and Super Stardust HD for PS3, & ModNation Racers and LBP for PSP. Unless I can only get two altogether, in which case it'll just be the PS3 games. I've got my PSP set to my JP account anyway, so it wouldn't be worth it to lose all my PSX games just to play MNR.

Can someone clarify for me about my psp? I own one but got it hacked a few years ago so I could play ps1 roms on it (pretty much the only reason I got one). I think it was chickHEN 5 or something, can't quite remember. Am I still able to log onto the playstation store with it and download 2 of these games theyre offering? As well can I play them online?

Thanks!
