He is actually pretty talented and very dedicated to animation. As long as he treats it with respect and doesn't bastardize it by adding his Family Guy style to it I think it might be alright.

I'm not really a huge fan of rebooting any old franchises but I'd rather have a respectable qualified person do it, rather than some talentless asshole like Michael Bay do the Flintstones remake.

Too bad Seth MacFarlene pretty much IS the Micheal Bay of animation.

Ugh, the only good thing that could come out of this is it being a complete flop and Fox realizing that McFarlane isn't the second coming and quit giving him shows.

I suppose it is rather fitting though. Back when Hanna-Barbera was big they were generally derided by serious animators because their shows were extremely cheaply produced and they made it difficult for people to work on the sort of good quality animation they wanted to make.

On a mildly related note, Fox is also getting a cartoon Napoleon Dynamite series  .

^ A LOT of the shitty shows did not last for long, 11 to 20 episodes. Such as Sealab 2020, and The amazing chan and the chan clan, for example. But I am pretty sure that American dad and The Cleavland show has lasted for waaay more episodes. Hell, The Jetsons, which was basically a re-skinned Flintstones only ran for 24 episodes until it was rebooted 25 years later. And fox reboot the Flintstones? The Flintstones are owned by Time Warner... so why?

So much hate for Seth.

I personally don't care, The Flintstones isn't anything near and dear to me. Though it would bother me if it turns out to be Family Guy with Flintstones characters. You know the one thing that would really help separate this from Family Guy and FG clones? Cut-away gags.

I'm willing to give it a try but it definitely needs a new formula from his other shows.

He's a really funny guy. He is spread far too thin with all of his shows on Fox, no doubt. (Don't forget he's also in the midst of directing his first feature film starring Mila Kunis and Mark Wahlberg.) Family Guy should never have been brought back from cancellation, because he managed to get his own formula right with American Dad. There's no question it's the superior show. The Cleveland Show I have no idea how it even got greenlit in the first place. Probably the same person that greenlit Bob's Burgers (not a Seth MacFarlane show). Like most comedic folks, he truly shines when he's focused on one thing, but also like most comedic folks, he obviously can't focus on just one thing, and his craft is suffering for it. He needs to stop focusing on so many things, and focus on just one animated comedy. I think everyone would be happier that way.

..and a video for all you Seth non-supporters. :)

American Dad is just a shock show. At least Family Guy is occasionally funny with Stewie and Brian. I can't remember the last time I laughed at anything on American Dad. It's mostly what's the craziest thing we can do on the show this week? Who cares if it's funny?

The only good animated comedies on tv are on adult swim, along with Futurama on Comedy Central. I hear Archer on FX is good too
