Ah Paprika, the good Inception.
I didn't like Paprika but really enjoyed Inception.
When I watched it a second time around I thought it was one of the most annoying movies I've ever seen. It was fine the first time in theaters but another time around, god I was bored to tears. Ellen Page's character is completely worthless and ruins it for me, a fan edit might be fun but too bad she's in 90% of it.

Paprika succeeds because it doesn't have a worthless character for the purpose of explaining everything that's going on throughout the entire thing.

I'm really bored of Hans Zimmer as well, so that didn't help either. LOUD BASS BOOOOOOM

Not to say Paprika is my favorite or genius itself, but much better than Inception in my opinion.

I agree Inception wasn't very good. But Leonardo DiCaprio is still a really great actor and I don't think I'll ever get bored of the Hans Zimmer style soundtrack (In fact both of those things appeared in Shutter Island, a much better movie).

That's really cool to know. I think I actually have a reason to start buying more Blu-rays now. :D

For me only very recently I've been having less and less time available to watch anime online and have started trying to buy the DVD's for the more promising looking anime. I'm kind of using it as an excuse to start an anime collection that will one day hopefully match my video game collection.
Nothing wrong with starting another collection

I usually start watching it online in some form before buying anything. Streaming sites, Youtube, and fansubs are my best friends. If I like it enough, and I luck out and it gets released over here, than I buy it. For instance, I watched fansubs/Youtube videos of Strawberry Panic, Maria-sama, and Kanazuki no Miko before I bought them, just to name a few. I'm still hoping that a few other series get released here. I also bought a couple after watching the dub releases on tv (Cowboy Beebop, R.O.D., Silent Mobius, etc.). And there have been a couple of instances where I've bought a series based solely on reputation alone that ended up being some of my favorites (Hellsing, Utena, Mai-Hime...).

So I'm going to guestimate that say that my ratio would be around 50/50.

I'll second that. I remember popping in Disney's blu-ray of Snow White and being completely stunned. I swear I could see every little drawn detail that was completely missed in the other releases.

Hand drawn / cel based stuff was the best. Check out Wings of Honneamise sometime (that video is an experience itself! heh). An early experimental movie by Gainax (Gunbuster, NGE, Lagann, etc).

But yeah, even a lot of the old stuff looks incredible with the blu-ray treatment. Bubblegum Crisis comes to mind. I haven't even seen the BD version yet, but I can only imagine it's sexy as hell...

I've been buying everything I can on blu since I got my HDTV. Still don't have very much but I find that nearly everything looks at least a little bit better on it.

Is there a list of what anime is available on blu-ray in the US?

I have probably said this before, but people need to watch Queen's Blade. Hot woman fight each other naked in every episode. A must watch.

A Google image search yielded... interesting results.

Haha, I remembered Aika, which is also a hilarious anime.

It's basically women fighting each other combined with panty fetish.

Oh man Aika R-16 Virgin Mission or whatever the new one was like the worst thing ever. I just can't stand ecchi, a little fan service is fine to me (how about Fairy Tail, haha) but when that's what the show completely relies on forget it, lol.
