Since video game based movies rarely work, this is probably all for the best.

Pretty cool article. Some of those movies sounded pretty good actually. I'd LOVE to see a Halo, God of War, and Castlevania movie. And who doesn't want to see Goonies 2?

I always did think that there were things in Pirates of the Caribbean that were Monkey Island inspired, but I honestly believe a REAL Monkey island movie would have sucked. Monkey Island just works better as a game or animated series. Well actually, I guess it would make a good animated movieBurningDoom wrote:Pretty cool article. God of War is PERFECT for Hollywood if someone could do it right. I'd like to see that. Shouldn't be too hard for Peter Jackson
Shadow of the Colossus, I've said this before, but Guillermo del Torro could pull it off. Or Asif Kapadia with a big enough budget. I might even go out on a limb and say that Peter Jackson could MAYBE pull it off, but it would be a challenge for him to do something with so little dialogue, which is why I think Asif Kapadia is a good choice. His movie The Warrior didn't feature a ton of dialogue, yet it communicated so much. SOTC was a very quiet sort of game, aside from the sweeping music during Colossus battles

I think leaving these game series alone is for the best. Recreating these world in a live action setting seems like an unrealistic goal based on production costs.

Cool article.
All the failed game movies would of been good if they just stayed faithful to the games, they never do. I can't understand why but directors like Uwe Boll always like to go in their own direction and since they're not game developers their version is always shit.
Ever seen the Hitman movie? Boll gave him emotions! When in a Hitman game has he ever had emotions? This just totally ruined it for me.

I think they're remaking The Goonies or something. I'm not 100% on that though, I just recall that it was going to be something along the lines of the original cast would be in it again and of course they're grown up w/ kids of their own now who will be in on the new adventure? Idk, it sounds more like a sequel than a remake but who knows w/ Hollywood anymore.
I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

There is a reason for that!I always did think that there were things in Pirates of the Caribbean that were Monkey Island inspired
Monkey Island was inspired by Pirates of the Caribbean (The ride), some things were taken directly out of the ride, such as the guy (Jack in the movie, Guybrush in Monkey Island 2) trying to lure a dog with a bone while in prison.

That sounds exactly like the fan-made preview that I just watched in the link. So I'm thinking it's probably nothing more than a rumor.Evildeadmanwalking77 wrote:I think they're remaking The Goonies or something. I remember years ago, on the news they had an interview with some douchy teen saying how excited he was for the Halo movie.
If each mistake being made is a new one, then progress is being made.
