I love Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2. It's a great game. The first one is so-so, but definitely worth playing if you're a fan of the source material.
I'd actually rate the first one higher, not as streamlined and dumbed down as the second one. Plus, you can't even get the dlc for the second one anymore if you don't already have it, meaning some of the best characters like Psylocke are off limits now. Unless you use not so legal means I supposse

I think the MUA games are half beat'em up half gauntlet/diablo style games

Activision took down the MUA2 DLC. Unless there's some hacky-sack work-around, it's out of reach.

Jade Empire would probably qualify.

Bioware RPG, so similar in some ways to KoTOR and the like. However, combat is action oriented, with a rock-paper-scissors style (block beats quick attack, quick attack beats power attack, power attack beats block). It also has a handful of (optional) top-down shooter segments.

Originally for XBox, but there's also a PC release.

Good choice :D There are no class selections but it is possible to upgrade the character so it counts. Also there is a dos version avilable.

For anyone out there who had some interest in Dungeon Fighter Online (2D online RPG beat em up), you should know they will be completely removing the daily playtime restriction on June 15th. This is a pretty big deal and makes the game much better since you can actually play as much as you want now. I quit because of this restriction, so when I heard the news that it was going to be removed, I came back to the game.

I guess that means Dungeon Fighter Online is my favorite game again.
