I went to chinatown fair arcade every Christmas season for the past 3 or 4 yrs. They had barely put in Street fighter Arcade Edition, tried Akuma's new evil character (oni). I'm usually good playing Akuma, but not Oni. They mostly had every street fighter game at that location. there was retro arcade museum in beacon, but was closed down under their stupid law. I have to go to Fun Spot someday, even Keith got the negative high score on donkey kong arcade. Barcade NY is still in business.

I so miss the arcades. 15 years ago there was a pretty decent arcade nearby where you got 9 tokens for a buck. Sweet deal. Nowadays, even if you're lucky enough to find an arcade (like at the Redondo Beach, CA pier), they charge $.50 for games from the early 80's (outrage!) and a lot of the machines are broken.

As for seedy characters, I know lots of arcades had them but I can't say I ever had a problem or even saw anything bad happen at an arcade.

I am excited to see that movie! I had actually planned to go to that arcade (I'm just over an hour away, but annoying to get to). I found out about it starting to close shortly after wanting to go and now I've missed out.

No arcades around here on Long Island unless Ziggy knows. I'd have to go to stupid Dave and Busters or be really creepy and go to Nathans. I would be the only person over age 14 there, which sucks because they have Capcom Vs SNK.

This location from the video looks pretty dank. Working at an arcade and going there to play arcades are two different worlds. I use to work at a local arcade during summer breaks and let me tell you it sucks. But going in there with a bunch of your buddies as a social gathering spot was priceless. It wasn't even about the games, it was more about socializing on that level. Big vending machines with packs of collectible cards and those gashapon prize machines. Great times but those days have long gone.
