Hardly.

The last time a Canadian team won the cup was 1993.

I say this; damn southern teams that play in regions where an outdoor ice rink in the winter is impossible.

Yeah, I guess I'd like to see a Boston/Vancouver final.*

*Yes, I am well aware of how ironic this statement is.

Ex NHL All Star and probably soon to be ex-ESPN analyst Matthew Barnaby was arrested for a slew of misdemeanors on 5/13. This is at least the second ESPN analyst to be charged with domestic violence this year.

Now this sucks, as ATH hasn't really been the same without Mariotti and Paige going at it, and as much as I love Melrose, it was nice to see someone (anyone) also talk hockey.

It really looks like it is the 'Nucks year, but I'm rooting for Bean Town all the way. I might not be rooting for that long though, as the Bruins just aren't playing smart.

Game 1 is sunday evening
It was a heck of a game, Sharks just fell apart at the end. The Canucks were just going at it in the Sharks crease for goals 2 and 3. So frustrating to see that Sedin goal get passed Niemi who played a pretty good game.

On a side note, I still am in shock about the Boogster. Not that I was a huge fan as I didn't see him play much while he was a member of the Wild, but it always sounded like he had a lot of class off the ice. Seems his brain was donated for research. If this comes down to traumatic encephalopathy there is going to be hell raised throughout the NHL. The media will surely get a hold of it and we are going to hear it from all the people who have never seen an NHL game. Up until now it seems this condition has been reserved for retired players, but if it is responsible for Boogaard's death it's going to get noisy. I can see the NHL brass being pressed for dramatic changes by outsiders who ignore what the players, themselves, want. Actually, I guess this could serve as a moment of realization within the league as well with players and clubs demanding changes.
