Genesis isn't quite so old as some might think. There were still official game releases as recently as 1998. He probably though Genesis was some rare, obscure thing no one had heard of.Stark wrote:Smile: Saw a youngster playing a Genesis after getting one (CIB I might add) for free from a passerby in our local Church trash/recycling drop-off service day. The convo was funny/annoying:
Me: "Ah nice! Where'd you get the Genesis?"
Him: "Some dude just gave it to me and I thought I'd hook it up to play."
Me: "I loved that game when I was your age."
Him: "What? You don't know what this game is!"
Me: "Uh, it's Rocket Knight Adventures. Great game."
Him: "Whoa, how did you know that?"
Me: *Thinking* I can't tell if he thinks the Genesis came out a LONG-ass time ago or he thinks I'm fairly young.
Either way I was happy to see retro fun being had. Now I just need to get that copy of Rocket Knight Adventures from him, obviously he doesn't deserve it.

Not to worry. Once he gets truly swept up in Sparkster's world, he will stop being a fool and instantly become enlightened.Stark wrote: Either way I was happy to see retro fun being had. Now I just need to get that copy of Rocket Knight Adventures from him, obviously he doesn't deserve it.
Its simply impossible to play Rocket Knight Adventures and not walk away a wiser person.

Smile: Bought the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy Season 1 (new) off Amazon.com today. Why is this a smile? Because I got the only copy that was listed for $14, while the rest were going for $50 and up. It's been out of print for years, so that's not suprising that it's pricey.
Frown: I've blown through most of my available entertainment. How the heck did I watch Die Hard, Star Trek 2, Johnny Bravo Season 1, all six seasons of The Powerpuff Girls plus the bonus features and the movie, read through A Clockwork Orange and 4 Garfield comic books, and listen to Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band all in a roughly 2 week period? And I was pacing myself, at that. I could have done it in a week or less. Well, that's what happens when you can't get a job, do no extracuricullar activities in school, have no real life, and stay up late when everyone else is asleep. (If you're wondering how I got all that stuff to watch and read without a job, I can explain. First, I'm pretty good at buying stuff at thrift stores and then reselling on ebay for profit. Second, about half of that stuff came from the library.) And on top of all that, I still had time to post on Racketboy.
At least I have Billy and Mandy on the way, and I haven't finished reading One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest yet.

Libraries are great for more than just books. I once found the entire season 2 of Life On Mars there on DVD. Awesome. Even better that I could rent it out for free for weeks.

Smile: I just got netflix for the first time the other day. I just realized Xena: Warrior Princess is on the instant streaming service. Goodbye rest of my weekend!
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Smile: Kicking butt at the Red Table of Pokémon Pinball. When I get home next week, first thing I'm going to do is record myself playing and get me an official world record.
Ticked: Have wasted the entire day playing Pokémon Pinball instead of studying for my finals next week.
