TERMINATOR 5 & 6 on the way WITH Schwarzenegger
A bid has been made and accepted to create two more Terminator films with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Deadline says producer Megan Ellison was one of two finalists in the auction this week. “The auction at the time was for a guarantee for at least half of the $29.5 million paid by hedge fund Pacificor to pull the franchise out of bankruptcy,” they said, though it was unclear exactly how much it actually went for.
The films previous rights owner Halcyon Group had gone bankrupt in 2010 leading to the hedge fund Pacificor purchasing the rights for $29.5 million plus the condition that Halcyon would receive $5 million for each sequel that is produced. The current deal apparently came down to Ellison’s Annapurna Films and Lionsgate.
Director Justin Lin (Fast Five) is attached to the two films which will star the Governator himself, Arnold Schwarzenegger. As far as plotlines go, Deadline wrote, “the expectation is the Skynet storyline will be wrapped up in two features.” The last film in the franchise, Terminator Salvation, did not star Schwarzenegger although it used his likeness.
Ellison was a producer on True Grit and is currently shopping around Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal’s search for Osama Bin Laden film.

I know he's old, but I don't care. The last Rambo movie turned out pretty dang good as far as I'm concerned and Stallone is around the same age. So I think Arnold has potential to be good still. And it's the freaking Terminator! If they could only bring back James Cameron, Linda Hamilton, and Edward Furlong it would be complete.

Yeah, but don't make it sound like crap that was 3-4 never happened.BurningDoom wrote:I know he's old, but I don't care. Very skeptical to say the least. Also I wanna know am I in the minority that prefers the first film over 2? I rewatched them both a month or two ago and I just absolutely love the first one, the vibe is just too awesome.
I mean, this sums it up.
Re: TERMINATOR 5 & 6 on the way WITH Schwarzenegger
The score for the first movie is amazing. I'd love to see a movie recapture that 80s vibe again. Planet Terror came close with its soundtrack.
But I still say T2 is the better movie.

Linda Hamilton has been regularly appearing on the show Chuck, and they had a Terminator 2 reference last episode where she was shown doing push ups in a jail cell. They love references on Chuck. There's tons in every episodeBurningDoom wrote:I know he's old, but I don't care. The last Rambo movie turned out pretty dang good as far as I'm concerned and Stallone is around the same age. I have no faith in these movies, the last two were terrible.

Re: TERMINATOR 5 & 6 on the way WITH Schwarzenegger
Hmmm I never did see Terminator 3 & 4. I only saw the first two, and I thought the first one was OK. I liked it better the second time around. But i really didnt like the second one that much. Mainly because Ahnold talked and John Connor was annoying. The first one was much cooler.
