But you come on here all the time right? You are after all, the moderator. So following schedule shouldn't be a problem for you. It's a reminder for the rest of us. Besides, it isn't a fix schedule, just a certain day when you guys feel like hosting an event or something, just to get everyone together. You guys decide the time and day that is good for you guys. I just don't like aimless chattering. I could do that with IM. I like to go here to discuss and share my passion as a retrogamer, so to speak.Mozgus wrote:Again...if the chat link just gets added to the blue bar, we'll have all the traffic we need.
Anyways, I can't follow schedules. No way would I remember to join the chat on specific dates.

At first I thought the chat was a great idea...but my thoughts are changing. I'm still willing to give it a shot, but I think that it is slowing down the forums personally and also the chat seems to be very off-topic a lot. It should be used to talk about games and such, but I've noticed many times it's not. I think it would be almost better if people just contacted each other on like AIM or MSN or something. I'll keep using it for awhile, but I'm not as fond of it as I was before.
Over about 1 hour worth of chat, saw the likes of "lol dude it's 420 im on the box of weedies and smokin up", "nintendo is strictly kiddie shit dooder lawl", "My god you are a girl gamer do you know how sexy you are, let's pm" etc.
Pretty much like every other chat you would stumble into.

Interesting how your thoughts changed right after you had a little spat with khaki.HoboJoe wrote:At first I thought the chat was a great idea...but my thoughts are changing. Some of these reasons are why I am hesitant to make the chat a main feature on the "blue bar"
Personally, I don't enjoy chats. I don't do IM. I don't do IRC. I like either email or forums.
Things tend to be more organized, purposeful, and able to be archived/retrieved that way.

If you told me that from the beginning, (instead of blaming layout complexity) I wouldn't have wasted my time. I was just trying to fill a collective request. The next time someone makes a thread asking for a chat, we'll just tell them tough luck.racketboy wrote:Some of these reasons are why I am hesitant to make the chat a main feature on the "blue bar"

And for the record, the forum can have topics that are just as stupid, trollish and pointless as the ones that happened in the chat. The only difference is here they are archived to make countless people suffer through.
Well, I wasn't making excuses if that's what you're saying. I told you at the beginning I wanted to see how things went. I also told you at the beginning that I was hesitant to put it on the blue bar. I even told you I don't typically do chats or IMs. I can keep it going as is, but unless things really take off, don't expect too much more.Mozgus wrote:If you told me that from the beginning, (instead of blaming layout complexity) I wouldn't have wasted my time. And I realize the forum isn't perfect either, but at least I can make an attempt at moderation.
