that is lucky. There's one retro store left near me these days. The prices tend to be all over. Like I said, most PS2 games are WAY overprices but things like GB or PS1 are at least comparable to eBay prices. Generally I patronize it once a month and grab a few PS1 games that I know I could get on eBay for the same price, but the guy is nice there and I'd like to see them get the biz. But yeah, I'm at GS a lot more often. There are like five of them in my immediate area, and the people that work there know me and are nice to me and I've found ridiculously great deals because of that.brunoafh wrote:I guess I don't realize how lucky I am to have an active retro game shop by my place. Bargains
Gamestop worth shopping for deals, just have to do the hunt to get the complete game. You can't beat the price on used PS2 games, there are even some there for 99¢! Just look at all the Video Game Finds pics I have been posting. The best part is the online listing of location availability and the seven day exchange-refund policy on used games.noiseredux wrote:that is lucky. There's one retro store left near me these days. Also, those "neanderthals" spend money, and at the end of the day, that keeps the industry alive. All the artsy games in the world arent coming out if people arent still buying madden every year.dsheinem wrote:Do you know who I consider to be a "neanderthal"? I might have stopped buying madden, but im not begrudging someone else who wants to.
Hell i may buy it this time, as it may be the only football i get to enjoy.

*Sigh*, this sucks. I'm graduating from NIU this week, and we have two shops with retro game selections that I perused weekly with great selections and great prices(Got a black dreamcast for $25 once). Back at my hometown though, the one retro game store we have is massively overpriced on everything(all super nintendo games $20 and up, when the one here is $3.50 and up). I don't like to admit it, but I may have to frequent gamestop more often. That, or drive 40 minutes to get to a Play-n-Trade.
edit: guess I should toss in a gamestop horror story. Once I bought the Megaman Anniversary collection for PS2 and the dumbasses gave me the xbox version. I didn't even notice until I got home, and by then I couldn't do much as I didn't have a license at the time. Luckily I had an xbox, but still.

Actually, the Xbox version is better, so you made off good. Too bad it came with the PS2 box though.Retrozoa wrote:*Sigh*, this sucks. Re: Gamestop is evil
I got an email from them that they're giving like an extra $10 on a trade in of 3 games (PS3, Wii, Xbox 360, PSP, or DS) but they trade in value can't be less than $2. I do have 3 games that I want to get rid of but more than likely they're probably not going to give me $2 or more for any of them. ANyone know how the trade in value system works w/ Game Stop? I know stuff like the condition of the discs, instruction manuals, box, rarity, and I guess demand/popularity but I was curious if there's anything else.
I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

It works completely on supply & demand and your game's condition. They don't care about your cases at all so in that regard you're golden.Evildeadmanwalking77 wrote:I got an email from them that they're giving like an extra $10 on a trade in of 3 games (PS3, Wii, Xbox 360, PSP, or DS) but they trade in value can't be less than $2. 90% of all PS3 and 360 games are worth over $2 but if it's a sports game that's over a year old, forget it.

Really?! Excellent! Yeah, none of them are sports titles. One of them is a Wii game though so we'll what happens on that. Thanks!

Re: Gamestop is evil
There's really only one Gamestop near me, and their selection of things I'm usually looking for (Gamecube, Advance...), tends to suck. Luckily a new retro shop opened up in town with pretty agreeable prices. $2.99 or $9.99 on all games through the NES-N64 era, with few exceptions, plus they check the games before they accept them and give you a lifetime warranty as long as you keep the receipt. All Gameboy games are $2.99, which I think is more than fair, and while some of their prices are a dollar or two over Gamestop (Off the top of my head: Warrior Within $12 compared to $9.99), I've found several games in there either at, or even considerably lower, than Gamestop (Complete copy of Ico for $8.99, anyone?). So some of use are more lucky than others. I just hope that more retro shops open up as the PS2/Gamecube/Xbox era gets phases out of Gamestop. Gamestop could stand a little more competition.brunoafh wrote:I guess I don't realize how lucky I am to have an active retro game shop by my place.
