Skies of Arcadia Save

Hey guys, quick question,

I was playing Skies of Arcadia from a set of back-up discs. I recently obtained a retail copy of the game, and wanted to switch over. However, when I put the retail disc in, with the same VMU I have my saved games from the back-ups saved to, it does not give me the option to continue, only to start a new game. Any ideas?

If you were using Echelon's release, those saves are not compatible with the retail version. I have no idea why (from a technical standpoint), but I have tried it myself, and it does not work.

I know that Echelon used a compression/decompression method to help with keeping it all on one disc (each game disc can be put on one CD-R, I mean). Not sure if that has something to do with it.
