Game save data for PS1 and PSN?
Re: Game save data for PS1 and PSN?
Hopefully you guys get the USB method to work. I lucked out awhile back when Game Crazy was going out of business. Managed to pick up one of those Memory Card adapters for $5 then.

good deal. I'd nab one if I could find one at a reasonable price.LXL_Guy wrote:Hopefully you guys get the USB method to work. I lucked out awhile back when Game Crazy was going out of business. Managed to pick up one of those Memory Card adapters for $5 then.

What format is the file that the PS2 extracts from your memory card? What's the extension?
Simply renaming the extension won't do anything as you haven't changed the header information on the save file. IF the PS3 doesn't understand the header info in the file then it will just return as corrupt. Doesn't matter if you changed the extention to .psv .tit .ass .fuk whatever.
What we need to do is find out what the PSV file is, and what your PS2 is extracting your PS1 memory card saves as. My suggestion would be to find a PSV of the same game, and opening up your own copied save file and comparing the data in a hex editor. It might be a simple case of copying the header over and bob's your uncle. OR it could be encrypted/compressed. Won't know until we delve a little deeper.
Can't see the 10 year olds on gamefaqs being much use on this. Most people just give up and buy the adaptor.

Re: Game save data for PS1 and PSN?
I actually need it the other way around. I have ps2 and ps1 saves of my progress on my ps3
Now I would like to convert and transfer those files to my ps2.
Did some googling and did not come up with much. Anyone have a clue, link or tips?
