I thought it would be interesting to do some threads focusing on the best examples of a particular gaming concept. Something a bit stimilar to some of the great threads that JT makes all the time. His threads are my inspiration. So far starters, what are the best chase sequences in gaming? It could be on foot or in a vehicle. It doesn't matter to me. I'm putting in a vote for the one in Beyond Good and Evil, which I once raved about in another topic a long time ago
And one for the hilarious Abandoned Mill chase sequence in Castle Crashers

Dirge, the 10th Colossus, always gets my heart going. You have to get him to chase you so you could access his weak spot. It's one of the few game chases that made me feel panicked. More of a boss fight than a 'chase' scene, but awesome nonetheless.
You'd have to foward to about 1:05 to see what I am talking about.

How about the chase sequence in Silent Hill 2, where Pyramid Head chases after you?

Or Silent Hill 3, where the red mist comes to kill you in the fun house?

The Silent Hill 2 one I get, as it is Pyramid Head, but in SH3, I have always wondered exactly what that red light was. They never tell you, it just comes, and if you stop, you die.

Don't pretend like you weren't impressed by this in 1999:

Re: Best Chase Sequences
Wow that was intense. I don't think I got that far, I got to the first major encounter with Pyramid Head and figured "Okay I gotta beat him somehow", nope. Supposedly you were supposed to run or stay alive from what everyone tells me, lol. I need to go back and replay that game to completion someday.Ack wrote:How about the chase sequence in Silent Hill 2, where Pyramid Head chases after you?

The sequence where you chase after the runner/informant in Mirror's Edge was great. To me, it felt like a culmination of every skill you learned so far
