Internet is not considered a utility and therefore does not enjoy laws designed for utilities. Utilities: Landline Phone, Water, Electricity, Gas

Most fiber in the US is owned by the cable companies, and cable currently falls under the utilities bracket. If it doesnt, well Ive wasted the last five years of my life drafting agreements with counties for a cable company to lay fiber and coax in the thoroughfare.

Hopefully the internet is considered a utility at some point. It really should be. Are telephones a utility? If so, then there is no reason the internet shouldn't count. If cable TV is considered a utility and the internet is not, that is all sorts of fucked up.

I used to buy DVD's constantly and some of them had unskippable commercials. It was the main thing that pushed me away when I decided to stop buying them. Pressing menu or forward or whatever wouldn't work.

I haven't watched many Blu Ray movies at all but even from the 2 or 3 I have used, 1 of them had unskippable commercials. I think it was Fast and the Furious or something like that. I pressed every button on the remote and couldn't do anything about it. I didn't even watch the movie because of how pissed off I was.

I'm excited for price drops on old consoles brought on by new consoles coming out

Same here actually, might pickup a Wii again soon when it hits $150...

... mainly so my Gamecube games look nicer on my HDTV.

Yeah, I've mainly been watching the Wii as well - it seems the most likely to hit the $99 price point first.

This enraged me from the very first time I saw it happen. With the menus available on DVDs, they could have just made the trailers available to watch at your leisure. Sometimes it's fun to watch those trailers, as the farther ahead we move in time, the more ridiculous some of them seem.

However, every time I want to watch the movie? Without being able to skip? (Thankfully I used to watch all of my DVDs through the PC, which had this great function of not giving a shit about the "no skip" setting.) I don't think so.

When I pay for a product like a movie, I expect to be exempted from all advertising save for the product placement within the movie itself. Period.

Yes, the price has been officially dropped to $150 for the white and black models. The red model was not included. The new SKU does not include any games though, so if you want a Wii Sports/Wii Sports Resort bundle, one might advise you go out and get one before they're gone.

"The Internet" is not really tied to any single delivery infrastructure. This is a pretty major distinction between it and utilities. I don't know all of the details of the special deals that cable television providers made in developing their infrastructure, but it's generally considered to be distinct from utilities.
