New to Spyro.
Re: New to Spyro.
I loved Year of the Dragon, such an awesome game. The only other one I owned was on the DS, can't quite remember what it was called but it was awful. I ended up giving it to my sister in the end. Only cost me about $5 from EB anyway so not such a big loss.

I recently tried some of the Spyro games, and I have to agree with the sentiment, the first three are excellent. I did try one of the later PS2 games, but it was massively different and not really enjoyable in comparison. In general I'd just stick with the first three like folks have said, and skip the rest.

Same here, I enjoy the PS1 versions, has real charm compared to later incarnations.
GBA Spyro Eternal Night has good reviews, even featured as a Hidden Gem here on Racketboy. So far even that one is just a run fight run fight type of game. The graphics do look great in the GBA, perhaps I just have to explore the game a little more.

Excellent game -- it came right at the very bitter end of the GBA's lifespan and got missed/overlooked because of the poor timing. It's too bad they didn't get it out earlier.CRTGAMER wrote:GBA Spyro Eternal Night has good reviews, even featured as a Hidden Gem here on Racketboy. I might have to check that one out, then. It looks like it's pretty cheap on Ebay, too.irixith wrote:Excellent game -- it came right at the very bitter end of the GBA's lifespan and got missed/overlooked because of the poor timing. Spyro was the first game I played when I got my PS1. Then I got Spyro 2 and was blown away. Never got around to playing the 3rd one. How good is it?

It's great, you should buy it. Quite affordable.darthmunky wrote:Spyro was the first game I played when I got my PS1. Then I got Spyro 2 and was blown away. Never got around to playing the 3rd one. How good is it?

Agreed. Darthmunky, if you liked the first two, the third Spyro game is worth checking out.BoringSupreez wrote:It's great, you should buy it.
