New console talk
Re: New console talk
I am sooooo not ready to take the plunge again. Heck im the dumby that spent $500 on his PS3. Now, looking back, i kind of wish i would have bought a Xbox 360, but its to late now. I do hope that at the very least, that Sony and Microsoft and even Nintendo carry over their respective stores so that the games you bought are compatible with their new system. For me at least that would ease some of the pain. But honestly ill look at getting a new console in about 4 years or so.
Re: New console talk
I believe nintendo's console focuses primarily with having having great 3rd party support, and that the system is relatively simple to develop a game for.flojocabron wrote:Look at all the consoles and when they have come out. Generally there is a five year cycle on new consoles, its just that this latest generation's consoles games are expensive to produce. Eventually publishers will make games for the new systems, but for now they are doing all that they can with the current tech.

Yeah not a bad comparison. I wonder how 3D TV's are doing? I was hoping they'd bomb along with the whole trend... I certainly don't care, and yeah lol I'm pretty sure around the time I finally got my HDTV is when everything was supposed to be all about 3D for awhile there.Gamerforlife wrote:It all happens too fast for me. It's like with the tvs, just as people were starting to get comfy with the whole high def thing, now they are throwing 3d tvs at us already. I honestly would not be surprised at this point to hear that blue ray is about to be phased out by some new thing and that another format war is upon us
Re: New console talk
I install cable and I've only ever seen one 3D TV in someone's house. They are nice to have, but they are way too expensive. I can't see myself getting one just to play games, but I'm guessing that it will eventually just be phased in to all new TVs. I don't see myself giving a shit about 3D gaming until then.Xeogred wrote:Yeah not a bad comparison. I wonder how 3D TV's are doing? I was hoping they'd bomb along with the whole trend... There are rumors that the touch screen on the Cafe controller will be able to change its texture. So for example, it could feel smooth, rough or bumpy depending on the context of the game.
I am ready for a new Nintendo console. The Wii doesn't support HD, its motion controls are shitty (most games don't use Wii Motion Plus), and netplay is horrible. Nintendo seems like they actually have valid reasons to be releasing a new console next year. It's not just a simple upgrade in graphics.
Microsoft may hint at a new console this E3, but there is no way Sony will make a move until after they know for damn sure what Nintendo is doing with the Cafe. Once Sony sees the Cafe in person, they can start developing their own version of it, and then tell us they had it in development years before Nintendo did.

Re: New console talk
Yeah, new consoles just come too fast. I wouldn't mind if GBA and Xbox were still getting new games right now.

well, I believe that the 7th generation will live for a very long time, because Im guessing 8th generation consoles will be backwards compatible, and budget titles could be released on the older technology to sell games at a lower price point.BoringSupreez wrote:Yeah, new consoles just come too fast. They'll also be insulting Nintendo and calling the Cafe useless until the day the Sony Clone releases.Inazuma wrote: Once Sony sees the Cafe in person, they can start developing their own version of it, and then tell us they had it in development years before Nintendo did.

Re: New console talk
I doubt I"ll have 5 or 600 dollars to burn on the next gen console.....could make an exception if sega was selling a console.
Re: New console talk
Just because consumers aren't ready, doesn't mean people won't buy them. There are a lot of sheep out there so I wouldn't worry about another crash.env963 wrote:Do you think with all this new console talk (Xbox and Wii) and what appears to me, that probably most consumers aren't ready for a new system, will cause the gaming market to "crash" again? hmmmmm
