Re: The Book of Mormon
maybe you should emphasize that you're talking about a play and not, you know, something religious.
Re: The Book of Mormon
Not sure that's possible. Seems like religious BS conversations is exactly what the show is intended to provoke.

Re: The Book of Mormon
I was considering going to this.
Re: The Book of Mormon
Yeah. What little I listened to raised several legitimate religious questions and criticisms. I don't know about the BS part.Hatta wrote:Not sure that's possible. Seems like religious BS conversations is exactly what the show is intended to provoke.

I think that's what Luke means by "BS religious conversations".Limewater wrote: What little I listened to raised several legitimate religious questions and criticisms.

Re: The Book of Mormon
Yeah, and that bothers me-- not just from the religious angle but from the comedy angle. It is pretty commonly believed that good/effective comedy causes one to examine himself and his culture. Luke would have been better off linking to videos of guys getting hit in the nuts.Hatta wrote: I think that's what Luke means by "BS religious conversations".

Re: The Book of Mormon
I was born into the Mormon religion and went my separate way, though I've never been removed from church records. You all may laugh at the mormons, but you are missing out on a major perk: sainthood was never easier. When you join the Ladder Day Saints, you're a saint from the get go. Catholics like Mother Teresa toil their whole lives and still aren't considered saints.
I'm also a card carrying member of the church of Eris, where you are a pope as soon as someone says you are, whether you believe in the religion or not. I'm also a Zen Buddhist, whcih teaches that we are all a Buddha.
Therefore, despite my primarily agnostic beliefs, I am also a saint, a pope, and a buddha. Raise your hand if you can claim all that? Yeah, that's right, I didn't think so.
I'll also just place this here:

This all sounds like BS to me.J T wrote:I was born into the Mormon religion and went my separate way, though I've never been removed from church records. Re: The Book of Mormon
It's tongue in cheek, but I assure you, I have spent time as a Mormon, an Erisian, a Buddhist, and an agnostic.Limewater wrote:
