Re: Weird quiestion: Sound proofing
Good things come to those who can wait. Did you take any pictures while you were installing it? It would be cool to see some before/after shots of the wall and maybe a shot of the glue being applied.
Re: Weird quiestion: Sound proofing
Sadly, no, I didn't take pictures. I usually take before, during, and after pics of the bigger jobs that I do but this time I was massively under the clock. I took this week off from work to renovate this room, but I ended up having to spend 2 and 1/2 days fixing up a bathroom. What are ya gonna do?
rant (skip if you want): Damn upstairs bathroom had a leak of some sort. Worst part was a pocket of water formed between the paint and the rock, up in the ceiling corner, in the downstairs bathroom. The reason why that's the worst part is because my brother and I just remodeled that bathroom (from a complete tear down) only 6 or so months ago. So it was, "Don't worry, just one day in the bathroom, still got the rest of the week for the room," but then one thing leads to another and I end up ripping out the toilet, sink/cabinet, tile wall board, and half the rock. Replaced the three shut-off valves, put in new rock, slapped up a new tile board, and installed a new toilet and sink/cabinet (and I'm leaving out all the little things that slows you down). So before I know it, it's Thursday morning and all I've done in the room so far is replaced two outlets (with the spacers) and that's about it.
/rant
I'll definitely be posting pictures of the new room, after it's all done, in the game rooms forum. It's gonna look absolutely fantastic when it's all done.
Since the Green Glue can take at least 30 days to fully cure, it's gonna be at least that long before I actually move in. I'm hoping to move into there by the end of November. Worst case scenario, before Christmas.

HA! Isn't life a bitch!? I took this week off from work to finally finish that damn room. Been busting my ass, let me tell you. The room is about 95% done. I just got a few small things to finish up and then it's done! I think it looks fantastic. I'll be formally posting pics in the Game Rooms forum after I get moved in, but I figured I'd post some preview pics. Nothing special, just snapped a few shots real fast with my shitty camera. Thanks again to every one for your input!Ziggy587 wrote:I'll definitely be posting pictures of the new room, after it's all done, in the game rooms forum. Thank goodness you got the cat installed, it will make the rest of the move in go better.

Did you do the green glue this week or was it awhile ago? I'm curious as to the sound proofing ability.

I did the Green Glue last October actually. It should be fully cured by now. I did some tests with my brother. Shut the doors and tried to talk through the walls. You have to speak up pretty good to be heard, and even then it's still muffled. You actually hear more noise through the doors than you do through the wall. The real test, for me, will be how the TV sounds.gtmtnbiker wrote:Did you do the green glue this week or was it awhile ago? I'm curious as to the sound proofing ability.
Re: Weird quiestion: Sound proofing
So I'm pretty much moved in. I'm just waiting for a peice of furniture I bought to come in stock, then until I have enough money to buy a couch. But other than that, I'm moved into the room. Here's some quick pics I took:

Took me something like 5 hours to break all that AV stuff down and set it back up again. That TV stand came with the lamest knobs, those lion heads I added. Cool, aren't they? And there's nothing like the flash of a camera to reveal just how bad some things look. The screens on those floor standing speakers need to be replaced so bad!

I did some test today with the TV and it's looking good so far! I put my TV at certain volumes then went in the other room with both doors closed to hear how it sounds. When the TV is at my normal night time level, it's barely audible in the other room! You really have to struggle to hear it. When the TV is at my normal day time level, it's audible in the other room, but still pretty muffled. These tests were done while a lot of furniture was still missing from my room, mainly a couch and a bed. I'm sure once the room is filled with furniture, the reflections will change which might help. After I get all the furniture in, I'll test it out again and see if it made a difference.gtmtnbiker wrote:Did you do the green glue this week or was it awhile ago? Looks good sir. Maybe re-dye the screens, or are they torn up on the edges too?
