Such a horribly true-but-poetic statement.

I find it very odd that people get so worked up about video game companies and their successes and failures. Especially here. Many of you who are railing against Sony consoles or claiming that Sony has never been a good company also own 3DOs, Jaguars, CD-i machines, etc.

To me, it doesn't really matter if a company is making bad decisions as long as they keep publishing games for their system that I enjoy. As I've pointed out before, each manufacturer this gen has made some major Grade A fuck-ups, and I don't really consider the PSN thing to be any worse than shitty DRM or poor hardware. Besides, imagine if they brought back the PSN just to meet some arbitrary deadline but it wasn't yet as secure as it needed to be. Then the bitching would be about something else entirely...

Do you want my cynical .02? There's a lot of retro gamers who blame the failure of Sega or the lean years of Nintendo on the success of Sony. Much of this current discourse seems like wishful thinking, extremely premature grave-dancing, and sour grapes.

I have to say I have some scientific curiosity in this possibility. I mean, how would they pull the address off? The mind wonders.

But I wouldn't outright hope for it to happen, as sating my curiosity is not worth the extended inconvenienced for PS3 users.
It is just that heck, if they do not manage to get their act together until then, it won't be *all bad*, as at least we get to watch THAT.

Well it's boring if there is no dissent so...

If a company's bad decisions impact my ability to enjoy games published for their system, then it matters to me.

Yes, all three companies have made mistakes this gen - but I do not think that means Sony cannot or should not be taken to task for this monumental blunder.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Someone on neoGAF suggested that PSN was kept offline over the weekend to prevent a possible 3rd attack. Sony may have kept things offline and disconnected a key server that hackers still had access to.

I can buy that. And I hope it's true. That could possibly mean the network could come online in the next few days. Maybe...

We were talking about this a few days ago. May 31st is an at the latest date for all services to return. Most notably the store. Online play should resume much sooner.
