Konami Hyperbeam on European SNES?

Post by Riqz85 »

Hi guys. Just bought the konami wireless pad for 20 euros on fleabay. Such an impulse buy... I didn't think it wouldnt work on european snes consoles...
Is there any way to modify it to be used on PAL consoles?
Thanks for the help.

Controllers are almost always region free. There shouldnt be a problem using it on a PAL console

Aren't the wireless standards/spectrum/whatever different?

My understanding is that it is just an IR controller.

OK the problem is that it's not working then.

There's no manual on internet.
From what i read around there are 4 AAA batteries to be used.

I can see that 3 are in the controller itself. I thought the 4th one would go in the receiver but there is no slot for it. Is it possible it's self powered through the controller port on the snes?

I can't seem to make it work.

Wow, that is the most ridiculous wireless receiver I have ever seen. Sorry to hear about your technical troubles, Riqz. I got some Saturn IR controllers a while back, and it turned out that the IR receiver was the problem, so if the problem is not external, you might want to check inside the controller and receiver.

PAL SNESes are NOT region free when it comes to controllers. So that might be the reason for it not working. It is possible to mod the console to accept controllers from other regions:

Mostly harmless

That's the most coolest SNES thing I've ever seen, looks hell bad ass lol. I would have probably bought one as well.
Any idea what the range on them are?

i'm guessing 20-25meters with nothing in the way (Infra red) if i get it to work...

Thanks for the joypad modding but i think the modding has to be done on the "Sattelite dish" IR receiver and not on the joypad itself..

That's correct but you won't find any guides for that for sure. However you can just mod your console instead so that it will accept all region pads.
Mostly harmless
