Though I see you're talking more about Square Enix here and yeah, I agree. May as well change their company name to Kingdom Fantasy or something. I definitely like to pretend Square Soft and Square Enix are two completely different worlds... because they really pretty much are.

And yet it's the Square Soft ips, which are being milked for all they are worth.

Been following this game since... 2006, I think? This game's development time is encroaching Duke Nukem Forever status.

I used to think of this one as "the real FFXIII". I think it has a lot of potential, but I dunno. Hard to trust the Final Fantasy brand or Square-Enix anymore.

Not to mention (I forget if you've played XIII or got very far, didn't sound like it) but originally the whole idea of the "XIII" brand (along with that portable game) was that all these games would parallel one another with the idea that demi Gods control humans, or something like that. I don't know what that means for Versus XIII, but hopefully the story is on a completely different level than the crap that was XIII.

I honestly think they just don't know what the hell to do anymore. They probably use South Park's explanation of how Family Guy comes up with it's jokes to come up with their insane names for games, with the manatees picking random words and such.
