No no no. That's a good slime-like monster though.

I found the boss battle on youtube.

It reminds me more of the gelatinous cube though as opposed to the cutesy DQ slimes.

Well, most of them are not impostors. It is a pretty simple concept that existed before Dragon Quest. Giant Rats are probably even more ubiquitous.

Dunno if anyone mentioned this already - but I'm pretty certain Crystalis for the NES had slime blobs in it.
