Saw Thor!

Post by BurningDoom »

Quite enjoyable. The sets and costumes were beautiful. The acting was spot on, and there was a ton of great action! Best of all, though, was that they stayed true to the source material, for the most part. The characters were all spot-on. And surprisingly enough, since this was a Thor movie, it was a bit emotional even.

If anyone is on the fence about this, I highly recommend going to see it.

It was all right. I wasn't sure what to expect going into the movie, except the standard set of expectations for a comic book movie. In the end, I got just that: Lots of flashy action with a good-enough story.

I was not that impressed honestly. The more comic book movies I see the more my interest drops in them nowadays. I'm no comic buff or anything, but I'm tired of every Marvel movie having to have it's dose of slapstick comedy here and there, something full out and totally serious for once would be nice (in the vein of Batman Begins or something I guess). The romance was very cliche' and weak and Thor's personality change in what... one night? was just kind of silly to me. I also thought the camera angles and all that were pretty bad during the fights, I was seriously not impressed with the fights at all because you can't see what's going on a single bit.

Worth it for the Thor Hammer alcoholic drink AMC delivered and hanging with some friends, but yeah nothing I'd care to see again.

I was also not that impressed with the film. It was alright, but I think it was the weakest Marvel movie in recent years, excepting Wolverine and the Fantastic 4 movies.

Thor was supposed to undergo some character development, but it just wasn't there. I'd love to fault Natalie Portman for bad acting, but honestly she was just playing a very uninteresting character. There definitely wasn't much chemistry in the romance angle-- they should have just left it out or something.

Unlike most of the critics, I thought that the best part of the movie was when Thor was on Earth. That's certainly where I found the most entertainment value.

Sadly I agree, and I say sadly... because that's not what I wanted out of Thor at all.

Beta Ray Bill would've made this 10x better.

The critic I read said he preferred the parts on earth to the parts in asgard as well.

I used to be a huge fan of the Thor comics (Marvel has run them into the ground now), but I don't think I'd be able to sit through the movie. It look too ridiculous for me.

It was entertaining, but there wasn't a TON of action. I actually hoped to see more than 3 minutes of Thor as a 'superhero' on Earth. He was the Thor we all know and love in Asgard, but when he came to Earth he was mainly just milling around thinking he was a badass (which he wasn't). Then he became "Thor" again for that few minutes.

Also the 3D on it was completely and totally negligible. My wife and I were the only ones that didn't want to see the 3D version but the rest of our group wanted to. Waste of money.

Good movie, but watch the 2D version.

I liked that we saw Hawkeye for a few minutes too.
