Free Comic Book Day Today!

Post by BurningDoom »

I made out like a bandit, here's what I got, all for free baby!

-Green Lantern: Special Edition
-The Dark Crystal/Mouse Guard Preview
-Path of the Planeswalker II (Magic: The Gathering Comic)
-Captain America/Thor: The Mighty Fighting Avengers
-The Tick: Free Comic Book Day Edition
-Worlds of Aspen 2011
-Overstreet Guide to Collecting Comics: Free Comic Book Day 2011
-Bongo Comics Free-For-All 2011 (The Simpsons)
-The Amazing Spider-Man: Free Comic Book Day
-The Silver Scorpion #1: Free Comic Book Day Edition
-Green Lantern-Hal Jordan HeroClix

There were a lot of books this year! I passed on a lot of them. And I passed on the posters since my man-cave is wallpapered in posters, I don't have anywhere else left to put one, lol.

I got some free comic books today, too. Oni Press did a free comic book, but it wasn't Scott Pilgrim. :(

I don't have one in my area, so my mom went and got some. I don't know what the free ones were, but I do know she bought Axe Cop: Bad Guy Earth #3 for me. :D

I grabbed:
-An issue of The Tick (used to love the show)
-Preview of Secret Avengers
-Dark Horse double issue (Criminal Macabre/Balitmore)
-Amazing Spider-Man promo
-A slew of posters (coming Moon Knight reboot, new Uncanny X-Force, Red Hulk)

Nothing too extravagant, but not bad for it all being free.

It's not as bad when you're getting it week to week. But if you're looking to get it all it once, the trade paperbacks (like in Barnes & Noble) are the cheaper way to go.

Also, Blackest Night is good, but both Green Lantern: Rebirth, and Green Lantern: The Sinestro Corps War are far better, IMO, you should check those out first. It will also make Blackest Night make a little more sense when you do get to it.

I have Rebirth, No Fear, Tales of the Sinestro Corps, Agent Orange, and also got a graphic novel based on World Weekly News for 6 bucks and Batman RIP.

Wow, good buy. Just to let you know, Tales of the Sinestro Corps isn't the same as Green Lantern: The Sinestro Corps War. Tales is more of a side-story thing that showcases individual Yellow Lanterns in the Sinestro Corps. While Sinestro Corps War is a freaking epic war between the Green Lantern Corps and Sinestro Corps that takes place on Oa and on Earth.

I'll look for it next. One thing I'm liking about it so far is that it feels like cosmic scale done right- it's kinda nice to see Earth not be the main focus.

EDIT- which arc/tradeback is the whole Red Lantern thing in?

Rage of the Red Lanterns. And read Secret Origin right before it, as they're directly connected.
