For Dave's screen shot, pay attention to what is going on in the screen shots. If you search for games like that, and take all of his clues (there are clues in his non-obvious clue posts), then you will find the answer.

I'm was thinking of the North and South civil war strategy game. But these are British soldiers in Africa.

Yup. You're on the right track. My two main "tools" in these games are
Moby Games
GameFAQs

Ahh, and wouldn't you know it, Moby Games actually has a filter for games based on historical battles.

Yeah, I looked at the screen and was like huh....it says Pariah right over there...quick google...yep that's the one!

Indeed, which is why I took the screenshot in the first place when I was plying the game. The rest doesn't make sense though. "BE57 OFF" = best off?
