Ok, I found the zelda 1 "slime".
I couldn't remember what the hell they looked like, but now I found the picture and I remember the enemy.
This is the character art, nothing at all like a slime.

I can't find a sprite of how they look in game, but basically its just a little formless droplet. Based on the art up there, this probably won't work.
The slime I posted before though, is a good contender I think.

While not exact copies of the Dragon Warrior/Quest games, the Breath of Fire series featured various slimes.

I'm not sure this is what you are thinking of, as they are not in the "drop" shape of the famous Slime... But the following have Slime balls with eyes in them:
Silly Putty / Putty (Amiga) or Super Putty (SNES):

The sequel, Putty Squad:

Gish:

World of Goo as well.

Re: Help me think of slimes.
Wow, big request. The first ones that come to mind are
Final Fantasy 8's Blobra:

AKA Flan in most final Fantasies (with multiple palette swaps and names):
http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Flan
In Zelda 2 they're known as Bit & Bot, Zelda 1 they're called Zol (Zel when they split in half):

Final Fantasy Mystic Quest called them Jelly, Ooze, and Slime (palette swaps):

In Lufia they're called Jelly:

Puni from Altelier Iris & Mana Khemia (rainbow of colors and abilities)

You should find more here (picture on the first link has many to track down):
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/M ... oundMonkey
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MascotMook
A very tall order to find them all. I'll add more if I have time and nobody else tags them first if you keep the first post updated on the series and names of each iteration. I'm sure there's one in at least half of the JRPGs I've played, tho some are less wet looking.
