PuyoPuyo started in 91 I believe, so DQ came first.
That said, I don't think puyos were inspired by slimes. At least, it doesn't look like it to me.
Help me think of slimes.

How about the .Hack (Dot Hack) games?
"Are you missing a silver axe? Or perhaps it was a golden axe?"
I've only been able to play the first game, Infection, but I'm pretty sure they make recurring appearances throughout the series.

Re: Help me think of slimes.
Slimes came from Dungeons and Dragon, which I no doubt would think was the influence for them in Dragon Quest.
Re: Help me think of slimes.
I don't think there are many games that rip the EXACT slime from DQ (other than the spin-offs that are actually about the slime). I think an article about slimes in RPGs in general would still be interesting though.

I'm trying to look for them, but I can't find anything. But I remember they looked a lot like slimes.noiseredux wrote:I'm not familiar at all... picture?Veno wrote:How about the .Hack (Dot Hack) games?

Ok, I'm sorry. My memory seems to play tricks on me. Saw a pretty crappy screenshot, but it's basically a water drop, not a slime. But I'll try to think of something.
