You can always look inside the cart slot to see what the bios says, if it says NEO-PO it's Japanese, if it says NEO-EPO it's US.
The bios in most systems is to the right of the cart slot and about 0.5" down. If you don't see the bios then it is most likely a 1st gen or 1st revision(with daughterboard).
The games will play in the language specified by the bios but this is overruled if the game only has 1 language set. Most Neo games contain language data for the 3/2 regions. But if the game is a Japan only release then it only going to display Japanese.
So if you have a system with a US bios and your game is say Samurai Shodown JP version then it will play in English since you have a US bios. Just like if you play a US Sam Sho in a JP system, it will play in Japanese.

ChuChu Flamingo wrote:The prices are ridiculous, much like some retro game prices. The buy it now price on ebay are horribly overpriced. Let us look at Pulstar for example. People want $1000 buy it now on ebay, when it should really be $400-$500. All these buy it nows on feebay has made our hobby way more expensive than it needs to be.
I guess that is what happens when back in the early days of ebay, it used to be people trying to get rid of their stuff. The bidding market would determine price. Now we have rarity guides where everything is worth X amount instead of letting open market bidding decide the price.
Heck, whenever a rare neo geo aes game or any retro game goes on ebay, it is always considerably lower than buy it now.
Eventually the bubble will burst.
Even the "not quite common" games are getting outrageous right now. $150 for a complete cyber lip- auction, not buy it now. 150 bucks for a lame-ass contra clone. Robo army is the same way. Very bizzare.
But on the bright side, I picked up a pristine World Heroes 2 Jet for $35. Huge nostalgia value for me, even if no one else gives it any love

Re: Neo Geo AES appearance question
If you can deal with Japanese, I honestly recommend Yahoo auctions. It's great since the commons for the AES go fairly cheaply. I just bought Baseball Stars 2 for about $30 there. There are some international sellers from time to time, but for how much people will charge on ebay, it'll save you money, including shipping.
My Console Collection: 3DS (JPNS), Dreamcast (US and JPNS), Genesis, N64 (US and JPNS), iPod Touch, NES, Xbox, Famicom, Colecovision, Super Famicom, Neo Geo AES, Sega Saturn, DS LL (JPNS), Neo Geo Pocket Color.
