brunoafh wrote:$40, plus $15 I spent on the donor cart. Not a bad deal as far as I'm aware.

I guess I didn't find it exactly, I had it made, but I thought it was pretty awesome and worth posting here.
it's awesome.

I have a "PS1 version" myself haha. Someone posted an ISO that's just the translated NES ROM that auto-boots. But I printed a nice cover for it. :)

Shmup and Snowboards

In case anyone missed it.
I uploaded a 1024x768 Gradius C.A.D Wallpaper, a zip file attachment:

PS2 Gradius V - $12.99
http://www.gamestop.com/ps2/games/gradius-v/27773
I recently purchase Gradius III and IV, so why buy this one? Its more expensive, but one word in the Wiki search caught my eye. The developer is TREASURE! Oh yeah, I had to get this one. A check of the Gamestop site showed one down the street from my house. The very next location is 99 miles away. Oh crap, yet another frenzied rush out the door! I purchased the game complete with a well worn scratched disc. A good sign of a heavily used fun game. Beggars can't be choosers so I took it home for a test run.

I polished out most of the scratches, though a few deep ones remained. HDAdvance reported an error ⅔ into the install. My thought was as in Gradius III/IV and Raiden III it might have needed an ISO conversion install. Clicked continue and the game direct installed just fine. Perhaps the scratches caused an error.

The game would not run under HDAdvance but works beautiful under HDLoader 8b.

Okay gave the first level a go, very pretty globes and explosions! I can see Treasure's trademark here with all the fireworks flying around, a great game! Supports both Digital Pads and Analog Stick. Gradius has many preprogram weapons options, hard to decide which is the best for a given level. There is so much detail for a rare under 700mb Blue CD game. This stays permanent in the Hard Drive!

A collector's work never done, now to hunt down the bonus preorder DVD:

Addendum
As I was adding the Gamestop links, I discovered another copy of this game about 20 miles away! Someone just traded it in, so another mad dash out the door. Just got back and the game is pristine, but no case or manual. Not a problem I already have the case and manual from the previous purchase. Installed fine with no errors in the disc, runs with HDLoader 8b

Really I'm not a fan of SHMUPS ................
PS2 SSX Tricky - $4.99 FREE
http://www.gamestop.com/ps2/games/ssx-tricky/16785
Lucky to find this under Five dollar game complete, the way gamestop is tossing cases. I was really after SSX 3, but this one has some nice making of videos included in the game disc. An upgrade or remake of the PS2 launch day game SSX.

SSX Tricky installs and runs with HDAdvance!

PS2 SSX 3 - $4.99

None of the Gamestops had a complete game, ended up getting this at Luna Games in pristine condition. Worth the extra dollar, thanks to Gamestop for helping the independent store get my business. This one has the best reviews of the PS2 SSX series. Very purty with lots of lighting and fireworks as the snowboarder goes down the mountain. I went out of my way to get this one because of the 480p HD capability. Don't know why the newest SSX On Tour does not support 480p.

I'm actually glad I bought the Greatest Hits version of SSX 3. Though not sure yet, maybe an additional level to be discovered like a couple of other PS2 Greatest Hits games.

SSX 3 installs and runs with HDAdvance!

My thrift store went with quality over quantity this week:

Image
PlayStation 1
all complete, all black label, all $3.00
The Legend of Dragoon
Chrono Cross
Tekken 3

This is the first weekend of really nice weather, so there are about 50 yard sales this weekend...

Image
PlayStation 2
Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy XII
Tomb Raider Legend
Wild Arms 3
all $1.00, all complete except for Dirge of Cerb. Seller had a lot of Maddens and such too. I found it odd to find quality titles in such a collection.

Sega Genesis
Back to the Future, Part III
Bugs Bunny in Double Trouble
The seller was thoughtful enough to inform me that someone had just bought their Genny with about 20 other games about 15 minutes before I arrived. This is what was left over, along with the typical sports junk. I paid 25¢ for both, but now I'm tortured by what I probably missed...

Couple of nice little finds today.

Kirby's Pinball Land (GB) cart only - $3
Blast Corps (N64) cart only - $3
Grand Theft Auto (GBC) complete - $3

The Grand Theft Auto box looks like it just had the plastic wrapping ripped off. The cart still has it's plastic sleave, both manuals are intact, and it even still has the offer card for the free Rockstar Pager*. Hell, even the owner of the store was impressed with how pristine it was.

*One year service contract required.

Local thrift store today:

Super Nintendo with everything
Saturn with one controller, no cables
Sega-CD 2nd generation with 2nd generation Genesis. Brought it home with no cables, ran to Play N trade, bought a new av cable for 5 bucks, used 2 spare power cords I had lying around and guess what? Works.Like.New.

Grand total? $30 including the 5 bucks for the av cable.

One of the best hauls I've ever made.

Goodwill here in Richmond is outrageous. I scored an N64 Goldeneye for a buck a month ago and the next week, I'm finding PS2 games for no cheaper than $6.25 now and systems for $25 and up.
