Earthbound....
Re: Earthbound....
I can't wait for nintendo to re-release this on both ds and wii. considering there is going to a movie. it will end the madness on ebay.

It's a general consensus that Earthbound will never be re-released ever because of the bajillion copyright issues.benderx wrote:I can't wait for nintendo to re-release this on both ds and wii. considering there is going to a movie. it will end the madness on ebay.

I always here it's because of the music, but plenty of other early Nintendo console games that have been re-released also had music that are 8 or 16-bit versions of popular copyrighted songs. I've never played Earthbound, are there other copyright issues that come up in the game?AmishSamurai wrote:It's a general consensus that Earthbound will never be re-released ever because of the bajillion copyright issues.benderx wrote:I can't wait for nintendo to re-release this on both ds and wii. considering there is going to a movie. it will end the madness on ebay.

The hospitals use the red cross logo, the Runaway Five look a lot like the Blues Brothers (this was revised in the American version), one of the enemies is based on a painting that in itself is under a legal firestorm of who owns it, and a few more things I can't think of that Nintendo would prefer just not dealing with.Czernobog wrote:I always here it's because of the music, but plenty of other early Nintendo console games that have been re-released also had music that are 8 or 16-bit versions of popular copyrighted songs. Oh, wow, that sounds like it is a lot of issues. I guess all we can do is cross our fingers and hope Nintendo at some point believes the advantages outweigh the hassle, but I doubt that will every happen.AmishSamurai wrote: The hospitals use the red cross logo, the Runaway Five look a lot like the Blues Brothers (this was revised in the American version), one of the enemies is based on a painting that in itself is under a legal firestorm of who owns it, and a few more things I can't think of that Nintendo would prefer just not dealing with.

When you name an area "Grateful Dead Valley" (from the Japanese version) and have a bunch of Beatles references, it kinda makes it a bit obvious.

Nope. I also think this. I enjoy it, but other 16-bit RPGs like FFIV, VI, Chrono Trigger, PSIV, Lunar 1 & 2, etc. blow it away in my opinion.brunoafh wrote:Am I the only person that thinks Earthbound is ridiculously over-rated?
And yes, $450 for a complete Earthbound is a complete joke. $200 for it fully complete is about right. Maybe slightly more, if the US dollar is crap.

Haha, guess I'm not alone around here then. I'm not a fan of it at all honestly. And its fanbase is pretty notorious so I'm used to getting shit about it or jokes from friends.

It's not a bad game, but I too think it's over-rated.Breetai wrote:Nope. I also think this.brunoafh wrote:Am I the only person that thinks Earthbound is ridiculously over-rated?
