I was going to say the same thing. This must be the new Australian slang; my 50 year old Australian coworker never uses language like that. Usually he just calls things "bloody peasant".CFFJR wrote:Forgive me guys, but what are derros and bogans?

They've been on TV more than any other police department right?
If each mistake being made is a new one, then progress is being made.

They are one of the largest police departments in America.Haoie wrote:They've been on TV more than any other police department right?

I've already made my general feeling on the police known on this thread. They're largely useless bullies. The job self-selects for assholes with who like to throw their weight around and be in authority. That said, one of my closest friends is a police officer, and my brother is hoping to become one.
For what it's worth, my friend who is a cop has been made by his supervisor to do a bunch of dickish bully crap that he didn't want to do.

There is no such thing as a good cop. Even a completely honest cop will be stuck enforcing laws written by robber barons and bigots. Anyone who would choose to do that is not a "nice guy" regardless of how much personal charisma they may have.

I understand that but it did get towed/impounded. Did he or his Mom go to the police dept to find out why they did not get the phone call? Or maybe they did get the call but there was no answer? etc.AppleQueso wrote: He was expecting it not to need to be towed/impounded at all.
Re: Los Angeles Police Department
This is absurd. So because some laws are bullshit, all laws are bullshit? Surely police do plenty to protect the populace from legitimate threats and uphold laws that are necessary and good. Even if some of the things they have to do are unsavory, that doesn't make them bad cops by default. I know police who are just as upset as you probably are about some of the harmful laws they have to enforce, but they hold their nose in the genuine interest of protecting and helping people by enforcing that healthy percentage of laws that do keep society relatively safe. I've also met cops that more or less look the other way on trivial bullshit in the interest of handling more pressing concerns. These are bad cops?Hatta wrote:There is no such thing as a good cop.
