same here. If they can't find the game, I always ask if I can just have the box/manual. They always say yes. So now I'm just after a few disc-only games to make completes.

Went to my local gamestop today... they really need to clean the place up. I went in to go and get about 5 GBA yugioh games and some ps2 ones, because I have been wanting to play some lately, and the GBA games will be gone soon. I wanted about 5 gba games(which I checked online to see if they were in stock) , so I ask the employee which ones were in stock. He said that the ones I wanted were in stock, so I told him to get them. So he goes to the red containers were the GBA games are being kept. He looks around for about 5 minutes and he couldn't find them. He said that they must have never been in stock and it was just bugged. I say okay and look at the ps2 games.

I thought you guys were joking with how bad the discs in sleeves are. I'd have to say the store I went to is the worst. The discs are being kept on a table basically. There is no organizations at all. Each disc is very scratched up, and has about 6 stickers on the sleeve. I tried looking for one of the yugioh games and it wasn't anywhere to be found. Asked the guy if it was in stock, and he said yes and began looking for it, only unable to locate it. I did find one of the yugioh games I was looking for, it had the artwork but not the manual. I don't mind because it is waaaaay more expensive online.

I took a glance over at the gamecube games, and didn't even bother looking through them. There was once again, no organization to them. I ended up only getting 2 games, But on the plus side I did find .hack GU Volume 3 complete. I know that the ps2 games and gamecube games don't make that many sales for gamestop, but Its not just those that were a mess. All of the wii, DS, and 360 used games are just thrown together. The only section that is organized is the ps3 section.

Perhaps they were in the midst of reorganizing?.... Probably not though. :?

I will say that some Gamestop locations are a lot worse than others. During the last sale, I stopped by no fewer than 8 different stores. Each one a different size and each one organized differently. Some had more Gamecube games than PS2 and visa-versa, some had a ton of GBA carts, some had none, some were well organized, others were haphazard. One location had put all of their PS2 and Gamecube games in sleaves, while one store only had a small cardboard box of sleaved PS2 games, the rest of their collection given mercy and left in their original cases. It really depends on the store.

I used to care about getting stuff CIB, but there's a point where the space it takes up makes it just not worth it. A few years ago I actually threw out most of the cases I had, and switched to more space conscious storage methods like folders and wall mounted racks. It's turned out a lot better for me, it saves me money on games and there's no way I could store all those cases where I live now.

That said, Gamestop is still a ripoff and I would never buy any of their scratched up junk.

You fiend. Did you actually throw them away, thereby destroying the cases forever, or did you ebay them?

I was the exact opposite, lol. I used to throw away cases and put the discs in a CD storage book thing. I guess it was habit from when I had to share a room with my brother when growing up so I was always conserving space. But now I want all my discs in cases. Less chance of scratching and they look better on a bookshelf. I even went to Big Lots and got a couple boxes of empty CD cases for the games who's cases were long ago thrown away.

I no longer have a space issue, since it's just me and the wife in a two-bedroom place. Our smaller room is my man-cave. Stuffed with classic consoles, classic video games, comic books, posters, and a little cassette/CD/radio Boombox. I party like it's 1999, for real.

Sounds like my ideal man cave

I've always cared about having cases and manuals for my disc consoles. Gamestop should know that people will pay good money for the cases instead of throwing them away...

I don't live by a gamestop that has the sleeve policy for cheap PS2 games, but what I hate about GS is that the price for a used game in mint, complete condition costs the same as a loose scratched disc of the same game.

The pic I posted the other day along with the quote seemed to open some eyes up at the Corporate level. I forwarded the quote below along with a link of the Hologram Spiderman Pic and the yellow envelope tray directly to the Gamestop customer complaint site. I received a phone call from another District Manager less then 24 hours later.

Gamestop Corporate has seen this reply:
http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... 35#p414235

I invited the District manager to join or browse the site once in a while. She was shocked there is a "Gamestop is Evil" thread with 58 pages of upset customers worldwide.

I was told that after seeing the pic at the corporate level, it opened a few eyes. The main shareholders will determine the best course of action, knowing a ten dollar used game should have less holding power then a sixty dollar game. Perhaps they will look at keeping complete games after seeing the photo of yellow PS2 game envelopes next to the worthless "Best Sellers" fake cases with no manuals.

I pointed out that the only incentive to buy a new game at Gamestop is for the bonus download preorder. A new game is cheaper at a warehouse store such as Costco. I also used a personal example. When I bought some used complete PS2 games, I purchased PS3 Mortal Kombat as an add on sale for the son. Emphasized the used games are Gamestop's bread and butter, new games can be bought at any competing store.

I also mentioned how other districts (San Jose) has six baskets full of complete PS2 games, even 99¢ games are still complete with cases, cover inserts and manuals. Added reasons to keep the cases such as the rare Hologram cover of Ultimate Spiderman.

The District manager asked me which Gamestop is my Home store, there will be a twenty dollar gift card waiting for me. I thanked her and said I would not shop there anymore because ALL the used PS2 game cases already were tossed. She then asked if I would still shop at any Gamestop and which one so there will be a twenty dollar gift card; a thank you for taking the time in pointing out this problem. I mentioned another Gamestop location store that still has a good selection of used complete PS2 games.

I emphasized I didn't really care about the twenty dollar card, just didn't want that particular Gamestop to start tossing their PS2 cases and manuals out. I did get a promise that they will not throw out cases at that location. Also a reassurance that this is a matter they are taking seriously.

We can save the used PS2 games, the more members send back a constructive complaint, the better the chances. Think of down the road when newer consoles hit the market. What will happen to all the used PS3, 360 and Wii games. Will those cases and manuals be tossed too if enough don't yell now?

PLEASE STOP DOING THIS! SELL GAMES WITH ALL ORIGINAL COVERS, ORIGINAL CASES (WHICH HAVE A MEMORY CARD HOLDER) AND ESPECIALLY GAME MANUALS! A TRAY FULL OF DISC ONLY ENVELOPES, WHO WOULD WASTE THEIR TIME LOOKING THRU THAT?

I understand trying to make space by throwing out cases for under ten dollar PS2 games. I don't understand putting PS2 generic "Best Seller" cases in their place, there is still no game manual inside. The generic display case even states the game might not be in stock. The irony is the generic "Best Sellers" cases are displayed with PS2 game discs inside yellow envelopes that no longer have cases and manuals. A real pain not only in tracking down a given title, but why even bother with no instruction manual or original case?

A SOLUTION TO HELP FREE UP SPACE
THROW OUT GENERIC CASES ONLY, KEEP ANY THAT ARE ORIGINAL. READING THE GAME MANUAL IS PART OF THE GAMING EXPERIENCE. AT LEAST KEEP THE GAME MANUAL AND COVER INSERT WITH THE GAME DISC IN THE YELLOW ENVELOPE IF THE CASES HAVE TO BE TOSSED.
