Los Angeles Police Department

Post by mluitjens1031 »

Over the past few weeks I have just lost respect for most of LAPD. On April 21, my mom had her car stolen from the parking lot of a North Hollywood movie theatre. For those not familiar with this area, it is not such a good neighborhood. She called the police to report the theft, and they would not respond to her call. She had to go to the police station to file the report, where they said that they will inform her when it is found, and she would have 30 minutes to pick it up before it is impounded.

The car was found today on a side street near the theatre, and instead of calling to let us know and give us the half hour to pick it up we should have had, they immediately towed it away and impounded it, and now we're stuck with a $500 impound fee.

That is just ridiculous, seeing how it was not our fault it was stolen. Not to mention the car had shattered windows, a broken ignition panel, and the stereo and many other items were gone.

I have just lost respect for the North Hollywood police because of this because we were lied to and stuck with a $500 fee over something that was not our fault.

Wow that is very dickish by the cops.

Sorry to say they only cater to the rich and famous. Commoners get no love from the police.

I think this is probably the most random post I've ever seen on these boards.

It sounds criminal to me. You have to pay a fee to get back your stolen car? Are you sure you're dealing with police, and not wise guys?

^ yea defnity sounds illegal. If iwa s you i would file a complaint aobut this. You probably most likely win and not have to pay that fee.

I'm very sorry to hear about this. However, the story does not surprise me at all. The Atlanta police department is not dissimilar.

Nor is the Chicago police department. I'm far from surprised by this behavior.
