The main reason I dislike WoW is because it's one of the most boring games I've ever played.MrEco wrote:Anyways, I feel sorry for World of Warcraft. I've only ever played the 10 day free trial but I still feel sorry because the game get's blamed for a lot of stuff that isn't its fault.
Ever play a bad game that you feel bad for?

^ A perfectly legitimate reason.

Re: Ever play a bad game that you feel bad for?
Why would you feel bad for bad games and bad developers?
I feel bad for talented people who are forced to work on a shitty game, talented and creative people who don't have the oppertunity to even work on a game that is published, people who work for shitty companies like EA and Activision and they get to see their cherished products and ideas gutted and raped for profits.
If a game is bad, its bad. I don't feel bad for someone who makes a bad movie or a bad game because it isn't hard to make one that doesn't suck. 90% of the games people use as examples are either just plain horrible games or shovel-ware that was produced solely for the intent of getting as much money as possible. I don't feel bad that "Alvin the Chipmunks" for Wii is fucking terrible. I feel bad that some idiot is in charge of making that game actually exist. So much time, money, effort (resources in general) go towards making these bad games and I am sure that most, if not all the people working on them know they are bad even before they are released.
We need more creative and innovative designers and less mass produced shit. Every console is guilty of this, but Wii is by far the worst. I am tired of going to the store and seeing maybe 10 Nintendo brand Wii games, (five of which aren't even good) and then 95 third party games based on whatever flavor of the month movie, reality tv show or whatever other crap is going to get them a few more dollars.
I also hate when people jump on the anti-LJN bandwagon. I disagreed with the AVGN in the first place but it really seems like a lot of ignorant followers took what he said to heart instead of forming their own opinions. I grew up playing a lot of LJN games and granted there are some terrible ones, but I also really enjoyed some of them. I have fond memories of playing (and still owning) Wolverine, Jaws, Roger Rabbit, Nightmare on Elm Street, The Punisher, Separation Anxiety, Maximum Carnage, etc.)Every company releases terrible games now and then, get over it.
I love pretty much any Super Mario game from the N64 back to the arcade days, but Nintendo has also made a lot of terrible Mario games. (Mario is Missing, Mario's Time Machine, Super Mario Striker, Mario Superstar Baseball, etc) Perhaps a better example would be Mega Man. Everyone loves Mega Man and Capcom but they seem to forget or overlook the fact that probably half the Mega Man games released are actually pretty bad.
Edit: I also love T&C Surf Designs. That game is awesome and made by LJN.

Re: Ever play a bad game that you feel bad for?
I actually did like all of the characters in FF XIII except Lightning, who was just a walking cliche. It's just that the story that they are dropped into was not told well enough. Snow is the furthest thing from a douche I can think of. I don't understand that comment. He's a good guy who is just a bit slow. I loved his character. I also loved Sazh and Fang. They were actually my two favorite characters. Vanille surprised me. I thought she'd be an annoying character but I ended up liking her. I HATE Lightning though. She's just Cloud/Squall with tits. She's very useful as a playable character though, and admittedly looks cool. I just hate it when game developers try too hard to make a character cool. I felt like the game was constantly shoving it down my throat how super badass she is with every damn cutscene. It's like yeah, ok, I get it already. Jesus. Fang is just as badass a fighter and stastically becomes the most powerful character in the game, but she doesn't have the spotlight shone on her constantly throughout the game the way Lightning does.MrEco wrote:I actually liked the characters in final Fantasy XIII for pretty much the same reasons The7K gave. All except Snow. That dude was a douche.
FF X is classic, I don't know why people bash that game. It was truly the last GREAT FF game though I really like FF 12 for all of its innovativeness and its challenge and for all of FF XIII's flaws I think it's combat system was brilliant. I would love to see it in a more fleshed out, less restrictive FF game with a better story. See they came up with a good combat system in FF X2, but the rest of the game mostly sucked. They improved that combat system for FF XIII, but again we got a game that largely dissapointing to house that awesome combat system
As for the topic, I will mention Enslaved. I tend to bash on it a lot on these forums, but a little part of me cries whenever I do because I loved the things this game tried to do and I really, really, REALLY wanted to love it. I want to join in when I see people praise it, but the objective critic in me just won't let me. I always look at every game objectively, no matter how many reasons I may have for wanting to love it

Douche is a bit of a general statement I suppose. What I meant by it was that he's a complete jock with a lack of any interesting personality. He also thinks way too much of himself.Gamerforlife wrote:Snow is the furthest thing from a douche I can think of. I don't understand that comment. He's a good guy who is just a bit slow.
"Your hero has arrived, baby!" - Snow
I see nothing wrong with this.Gamerforlife wrote:I HATE Lightning though. She's just Cloud/Squall with tits.

I thought Snow had a good personality. He basically just wants to help people and will put himself on the line to do it. I like that about him. He's also loyal to a fault and He also takes responsiblity for his actions. He DESERVES to think highly of himself because in my eyes he WAS a hero. Moreso than that bitchy Lightning, who is more of a douchy character for like the first half of the game I thought.
