GD-Rom drive startup sound

Does anyone else love the sound the GD-Rom makes when it starts spinning on boot up? The sound just gives me the warm fuzzies, especially combined with the Dreamcast startup sound. I was playing Soul Reaver last night and my wife asked me with a puzzled look on her face asking me what the heck that sound was.

It makes me glad that I live alone, because that beep would've had several ex's moaning about starting a gaming session so late at night. At least other consoles can be quietly started so that I can pretend it's not a new game.

That beep means the battery in your VMU is dead. You can replace the battery or "kill" the speaker in the VMU to stop that noise.

I was refering to how the GD-Rom sounds like it is a small engine reving up. Other CD-Roms don't make that sound and it just adds another extra flavor that makes gaming on the Dreamcast unique.

I hate the GD Rom when it buzzes in Skies of Arcadia.
Walk two steps and then yet another random battle.

i have to admit i do like hearing the beep and the load gd rom spinning.
Last night booted it up to play some DOA to prepare myself for upcoming DOA 3d.


LAter on was plaining on playing some shenmue but mysteriously, could not find my disc 1 of shenmue. Went searching for it through all my cd case games and nothing. ITs shame because its my most prized disc based game i own.
