More asshattery!

Look at these giant paper things they held for me and the 2 cases and manuals they forced upon me when they couldn't find the discs!

Ok, I still hate a lot of GS evil policy, but the people that work at the 2 near me are pretty nice even though I'm not there often.

What is silly about this situation, is that gamestop employees are instructed to never take in games if ANYTHING is wrong with the top of the disc. Surface scratches are ok, and deep scratches get sent in for referb, but top damaged discs are always supposed to be rejected.

Thats how I was trained anyways, could be different now.

More seriously, No, the customer is not always right. This is especially obvious if you work in customer service.

The customer is always IMPORTANT. And you should always make them feel important, but in the end, if your boss decides to side with a clearly irrational customer over you - a person who he has trusted for who knows how long to keep the store in order (and not just pocket all the money in the register), then it's time to look for a new job.

If the customer was always right, then we wouldn't need to have cashiers or security cameras.

How evil are they?

Their recent buy 2 get 2 free sale actually made me consider getting one of their edge cards.

I havent had one of those since ebgames was still around.

Seen this yet?
In a real touch of irony, Gamestop has been creating generic cases of the PS2 "Best Sellers". Okay I'm confused, I thought PS2 cases were being tossed out to make room. Now empty Generic Cases with no Manuals take their place.

Rarities like these are getting tossed!

LIMITED EDITION - Outer Sleeve - Hologram Cover - Game Manual - Comic Book

I was lucky to find this at a remote store 80 miles away.

This rare game now priced at $2.99 survived the toss only because it still had a $5.99 sticker.
Most Gamestop locations now have an under ten dollar toss the cases and manual policy.

Not just under five dollar games either, what a waste of gaming history. All games should be sold complete when possible, part of gaming experience, even the rare five dollar games.

PLEASE STOP DOING THIS! SELL GAMES WITH ALL ORIGINAL COVERS, ORIGINAL CASES (WHICH HAVE A MEMORY CARD HOLDER) AND ESPECIALLY GAME MANUALS! A TRAY FULL OF DISC ONLY ENVELOPES, WHO WOULD WASTE THEIR TIME LOOKING THRU THAT?

I understand trying to make space by throwing out cases for under ten dollar PS2 games. I don't understand putting PS2 generic "Best Seller" cases in their place, there is still no game manual inside. The generic display case even states the game might not be in stock. The irony is the generic "Best Sellers" cases are displayed with PS2 game discs inside yellow envelopes that no longer have cases and manuals. A real pain not only in tracking down a given title, but why even bother with no instruction manual or original case?

A SOLUTION TO HELP FREE UP SPACE
THROW OUT GENERIC CASES ONLY, KEEP ANY THAT ARE ORIGINAL. READING THE GAME MANUAL IS PART OF THE GAMING EXPERIENCE. AT LEAST KEEP THE GAME MANUAL AND COVER INSERT WITH THE GAME DISC IN THE YELLOW ENVELOPE IF THE CASES HAVE TO BE TOSSED.

Nice additions, I am seeing more and more yellow sleeves on the shelves at the locations near my apartment.

Words cannot adequately describe how badly that image of PS2 games in paper sleeves hurts me.

I think i die a little inside every time i see it. It makes me want to buy the ps2games that do come in cases, if only to save them such a dishonorable fate.

it is horrible. And of course you realize it means less and less CIB's will make it to aftermarket. Y'know how common it is to only find cart-only GB games nowadays? Well...

I just hate that their going straight to bins to be dumped into landfills.

I know their not obligated to give them away and yes it would probably cost them money, but dear god. IF they put out a bin of the cases they want to dump for say two weeks before they sent them to the bin, I think a lot of people would reduce the size of it for them.

Ive gotten to the point that i dont even mind the horrendus labels, as long as their not on the paper part of the cover go gone can work wonders. Ive even made peace with the fact that im going to have to get used to the idea of putting some games in generic dvd cases, but the thought of all those cases in great shape just being thrown out.

I know. That's why whenever I go into gamestop and find a CIB for under $9.99 I have to fight a horrible urge to rescue it. Even if I already own it or it's a crappy game. I was on vacation when the B2G2 sale was going on, so I was lucky to be able to pick up quite a few complete PS2 games that I never see in my immediate area, or are only around here in those ugly yellow sleeves. I also picked up a couple of very nice PS2 boxes and manuals when those stores couldn't find the game, so now I'm busy tracking down disk-only copies. I may not have bought them complete, but by god, they will be by the time I'm done with them.
