PS3 Trophies screwed up
PS3 Trophies screwed up
Ever since PSN went down, when i play some of my games, my trophies reset and go back to 0 being acheived. I am hoping since they are synced that once PSN is up, it will read correctly, but as of right now I bet I am missing 200 trophies! LOL yikes... it better work. Anyone seeing this problem? (might have something to do with me recently putting in a new HDD and not playing all of my games with the new HDD in. I did resync them waaay before PSN went down though and it did read correctly).
Re: PS3 Trophies screwed up
This has happened to me before when switching consoles/HDDs. As long as you synced properly before you made the switch, you don't have anything to worry about. They'll pop back up once PSN is back in order.
Re: PS3 Trophies screwed up
PSN trophy sync has always been broken. I lost all my trophies for Uncharted, twice. It's not stored on their servers properly like Xbox Achievements are. As soon as you unlock an achievement on 360 it instantly updates your profile on xbox.com. AFAIK Sony does no such thing with trophies. You have to manually sync them, and even then it's pot luck whether or not it syncs properly.env963 wrote:Ever since PSN went down, when i play some of my games, my trophies reset and go back to 0 being acheived. I just gave up on trophies long before Sony removed OtherOS and PSN went tits up. Not worth the hassle. Trust me.

I've switched consoles once and HDDs multiple times and never lost my trophies permanently for even one game. If you lost them, it was a user error and your fault, not Sony's trophy syncing.Niode wrote:PSN trophy sync has always been broken. I lost all my trophies for Uncharted, twice. Re: PS3 Trophies screwed up
Nope. I followed the guidelines on Sony's website to a T. Transferring from my 40GB to my 60GB lost a bunch of my trophies. Upgrading to a 500GB lost my Uncharted trophies. AGAIN. Everything else transferred. If it weren't Sony's service being toss, how do you explain the fact that only some trophies synced and others did not? It's impossible for the user to selectively sync trophies. It's all or nothing. I'm not the only person to have this issue.brunoafh wrote:I've switched consoles once and HDDs multiple times and never lost my trophies permanently for even one game. I'm starting to think this whole PSN debacle is a blessing in disguise. Maybe it'll screw up everyone's Trophies and people will realize this whole achievement thing isn't work the time or energy.

I love achievements, and I think Sony definitely improved upon the system by dividing the achievements into visible categories. (i.e. useless, easy, hard, insane). Microsoft does this with achievement value, but it's meaningless when looking at a completed achievement list, you know? Achievements help to give me a reason to engage in parts of a game (i.e. sidequests) that I might not normally do. It helps to give me a clear "100%" ratio towards game completion, rather than just deciding "ok I'm done" at a certain point. Sometimes they provide challenges that exist outside of normal game play (gnome, anyone? >:))MrPopo wrote:I'm starting to think this whole PSN debacle is a blessing in disguise. The problem with achievements is not so much that they're there, but that they're not really understood/utilized well by the majority of developers. "Play a multiplayer game! 10pts!" Some games do it really well, and the achievements end up complimenting the game, while others sort of fail at it and just have them there for the sake of it.
Ultimately I hope that achievements will continue, and continue to get better. They really do add an extra layer to games that some people (like myself) really enjoy.

If you want to stop caring about trophies, just rent SAW with the expressed purpose of getting a platinum. It cleared my case of trophy whoring right up.
