Has anyone played the GBA version of Mega Man & Bass? I've only played the SFC one. Is it just a straight port?

I know this has nothing to do with Sega, but neither have the last 3 pages. I'm surprised this thread hasn't proved Godwin's law or something yet.

yeah I've played it. But never played the SFC version. So can't tell you if it's a straight port. I think it does have some changes. It's friggin' hard. I can tell you that.

It's close, but the sound is obviously GBA'ed and the screen is smaller cutting off parts of the edges which can be a real bitch at times. Otherwise it's a pretty much identical port.
My Consoles:
Genesis - Nomad - SegaCD - GameGear - Sega Saturn - Dreamcast - NES - SNES - N64 - Gamecube - Wii - Playstation - PSone & LCD - PS2 - PS3 - Xbox - 3DS

This. I absolutely prefer the SNES version because of the sound/music/etc.

I think I finished that game actually. Only with Bass though. I love diagonal shooting!

Yeah, everyone used to think that was Mega Man 9 and then people thought that Mega Man X was Mega Man 10

Mega Man & Bass is hard as hell, but it isn't impossible. The game is definitely easier with Bass. He fires fast (although his cannon is weaker, you can make it stronger) in 7 directions, and he double jumps. Also, he can fly.

However, Mega Man has some cool tricks up his sleeve too. If you're getting your ass kicked, call Eddie, he might fill some of your health back.

The GBA screen cropping is a big problem is a couple of places, like Ground Man's stage and when you're fighting King in the robot. Still, the game is totally playable.

It's my favorite MM game, to me it was a great compromise between the raw Mega Man formula and the gadget overload of Mega Man 7 and 8.

I remember the ice boss being a pain in the ass but he was always like the best one to go after for a first choice. All this talk makes me want to play it again, hehe. Definitely one of my top favorites too and I think I even played it in Japanese back in the day when I first played it, I imagine by now there's surely some translated roms and all?

It was a good direction for the series that probably would have been great if they did more in the original line beyond MM8 on the PSX back then. I love the art style, graphics, music, everything, and the difficulty as tough as it is makes it rewarding and fun. Compared to say like the later X games where you can play as Zero and you're overpowered and practically invincible, the balance was much better between the characters in MM&B.

Yes, there is a fan-translation of Rockman & Forte. It is better than the officially translated game for the GBA.
