Game OST NON Emulated - Interest Check

Post by jeffro11 »

Just seeing if anyone here would like to hear retro game OST's.... NON emulated. Yeah you can get vgm, nsf's, etc. But they don't sound right. This may be a project I'd be willing to work on if the interest is there.

Indeed especially when the Genesis is on the table, it's kind of funny how different some of the formats and various youtube videos can sound. Some people on youtube know what they're doing though, like I've heard people put up some really good rips of Thunder Force music that sounds pretty dang close to the real deal, with all the grit.

Your sample is pretty top notch. I'd like to hear Thunder Force IV, Shinobi 3, all the Sonic's (especially Sonic 3D Blast, Genesis version).

Not to mention the gym's I have of Shinobi 3 sometime don't sound right, like Solitary. My file sounds pretty different compared to this which sounds damn awesome. This song just stands out specifically because it's like my gym file doesn't emulate some of the sounds correctly or something. For all I know the gym might be more true to the original, I dunno, but that one up on youtube sounds amazing. He Runs sounds awesome here too.

Compare with Emulator capture:

As you can hear... they are quite different. The depth of the sound is so much greater on the real hardware.

Niiiiiiiiiiiiice.

I don't know what you're doing but I'd be interested in some NES samples, like Blaster Master or something. :D

Woahhh... Never realized how big a diff it was. I always assumed that the emulators were 'close enough', but that just blew that out the window.

I'd wanna hear the diff for the blaster master main theme :)
If you aren't having a good time, why are you playing?
